If you go to the link the data is all there. All deaths, flu deaths, and IIRC pneumonia deaths.UNI88 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 11:54 amI was here. You reposted a graph that Fiver posted earlier. I would really like to take a look at the original page and see if whether I can break the information down into component parts and find out where deaths are dropping. Maybe Fiver can provide the link.

Re: Coronavirus
A Louisville, KY church received an injunction on the mayor's ban of drive in church service for Easter. The judge's order is an interesting read.
On Holy Thursday, an American mayor criminalized the communal celebration of Easter. That sentence is one that this Court never expected to see outside the pages of a dystopian novel, or perhaps the pages of The Onion. But two days ago, citing the need for social distancing during the current pandemic, Louisville’s Mayor Greg Fischer ordered Christians not to attend Sunday services, even if they remained in their cars to worship – and even though it’s Easter. The Mayor’s decision is stunning. And it is,“beyond all reason,”unconstitutional.

I love this line in the opinion - but if beer is "essential," so is Easter.

My initial impulse was to say "yes" but then I checked to see what mediabiasfact.com says about it and, though it has Media Matters rated as biased to the left, it's got its factual reporting rating as "High."
It's got Fox, CNN, and MSNBC rated as "Mixed" on factual reporting. I can't independently judge because I never look at Media Matters. I just assumed it's a propaganda site.
But I guess it's possible to be factual in what you report and still be propaganda by virtue of what you DON'T report.

You are assuming that the first vaccine to be tested will work. It may be that the first 1, 2, 3, etc. fail and the one that works is developed from the lessons learned in the early ones.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 10:31 amWe've been hearing 12-18 months for several months now. With dozens of worldwide trials, odds are I think we'll get one in record, or near record time, probably sometime 2021. Heard last month some doc claiming the record is 20 months, forgot what vaccine.CAA Flagship wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 6:16 am
Our lives are upside down until a vaccine is developed. And the likelihood of one in the next 12-18 months is a long shot. It's an extremely difficult process. No vaccine was ever developed for SARS or MERS. But we can't stay imobilized for much longer. This is going to come down to risk-taking. It will be trial and error. And there will be errors.
But yeah, there's a slim chance we might never get one. Because of that possibility, you can't keep your lives upside down until a vaccine. That's why when we get mass testing (there now) for the virus and antibodies (soon), proven therapeutics (probably this year), we have to return to life before: packed restaurants & bars, full stadiums, churches, events, etc. We'll develop herd immunity under a flattened curve, and life will go on..

Re: Coronavirus
I think the University of Washington Model described at http://www.healthdata.org/covid has established some credibility; at least with respect to anticipating numbers of deaths associated with confirmed COVID-19 cases. Here are some numbers that speak well of it:
According to the Johns Hopkins page at https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality, as of 8:30 pm Eastern Time on April 11 (yesterday as I type), there were 20,463 United States COVID-19 associated deaths.
The first run of the University of Washington Model I can find was on March 25. That run predicted that the death total through April 11 would be from 14,986 through 35,278 United States COVID-19 associated deaths. The point estimate was 22,297.
On March 31, when the Administration gave its press briefing and referenced different model or set of models to predict 100,000 to 240,000 deaths, the University of Washington Model run of that date predicted 17,639 through 26,630 United States COVID-19 associated deaths. The point estimate was 22,266.
That's pretty darned good. Remember, the point estimate is never going to be exactly correct. The prediction is successful if the actual number is within the predicted range. On March 25 there were 1,028 United States COVID-19 deaths and on March 31 there were 4,064. So we were not yet close to where we are now in terms of raw numbers. The death count as of April 11 was not something one could just easily guess.
One caveat I see is that the Model did well with respect to deaths associated with confirmed cases. Final CDC mortality estimates will be higher than counts of deaths associated with confirmed cases.
