I sous vided a steak for dinner tonight too.

I still need to do that. Been slowly working my way through different ways to cook. First started with grilling, then moved to BBQ, then Dutch Ovens and now starting on cast iron. Probably try sous vide end of the summer.

Sous vided for 1 hour then cast iron skillet and butter to give it a good char. I saved the steak grease and fried some bacon in the skillet with it this morning and then cooked scrambled eggs in the combined steak and bacon grease. It's good to be a bachelor and eat manly things!

Im about ready to drop around $300 on a good meat slicer. Tired of seeing local Rib Eye going for $19 per pound. Buy it in bulk and cut my own.

I cook a steak almost every third day because our autistic son will eat it if we put the pieces in his mouth. Very limited diet, so if he will eat meat, I will cook it.

I do T of olive oil along with the butter. And don't forget to pat dry the steaks before putting them in the cast iron.

I havent darkened the doors of a church in years

When asked, my reply is that the great outdoors is my church... the universe is my church...

But I’m going to celestial time out because I won’t fall asleep through a sermon in a musty smelling building

When I first moved to Oregon someone asked me about joining a church to help get to know people and I responded that I felt closest to god when I was hiking in the woods or walking in the sand on the beach.

There would be almost nobody to work the local foodbanks if it weren't for churches
the local Seattle churches do a great job of spreading the word on "how to be of service" to the community
the home delivery is almost entirely the kids of the local churches

Shooting Advice

Some words to the wise. Shooting Advice from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate this. If not, you should get one and learn how to use it:

A: Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians.

B: Its always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

C: Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.

D: Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arms length.

E: Never say "I've got a gun." If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off. (I prefer the sound of a round being chambered when you load a shotgun)

F: The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes, the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.

G: The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win - cheat if necessary.

H: Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it, cause it'll be empty.
If you're in a gun fight:
1. If you're not shooting, you should be loading.
2. If you're not loading, you should be moving,
3. If you're not moving', you're dead.

J: In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!

K: If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about? (I call it being prepared)

L: You can say 'stop' or 'alto' or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much a universal language. AMEN!

M: You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.
