Vietnam is a dictatorship and they were doing enforced quarantines of anyone arriving in the country for a while there
It is probably a better comparison to compare the US with EU countries

No doubt. Click on the worldwide tab and you’ll see we’re kicking ass in that comparison. We’re #1!
I’m not arguing whether we will accept more draconian restrictions. Because of that we’d probably be better off keeping the measures we have in place longer. That probably won’t happen which will also effect the economy.
As always, hope I’m totally wrong.
Be glad that we have issues with containing the virus because we can’t just lock people down by fiat
The people who live in countries like Vietnam, China, and Thailand live under that paradigm every day, every year. They exist at the pleasure of the State.. and they are numbly used to it
American statists today are chafing at people who resist being TOLD what to do. But Americans should celebrate the fact that there are people who chafe at being locked down. It means we haven’t completely lost our libertarian roots
A government that can lock you down today can lock you down every day.
And the definition of “existential” and “public health” can be as open to interpretation as words like “commerce” and “bear arms”
So shilly shally around with it all you like, klam. But leadership is convincing Americans that it is their patriotic duty to wear the mask. Not telling them to do it, or else
