A 14 year old boy to boot. And this wasn't even close to the most violence Whites have done against Blacks over the years. I said it elsewhere, we just really gloss over the amazing acts of wanton murder and violence perpetuated on Blacks in the aftermath of the Civil War and the period of Reconstruction. I'll give it to the Lost Cause movement, until recently (and really not until tv cameras started showing scenes from the Civil Rights Movement in the '50's and '60's) it had been highly successful in rewriting history to perpetuate a horrible string of abject racism and hate.

That shit happened before I was born and before all of these black thugs were born. If I held onto things like that I'd be in France, attacking French Catholics and in England hunting down the descendants of the Duke of Cumberland.

It's a damn good example of the shit that African Americans were subjected to for more than 100 years after emancipation. The reality that these things were allowed, facilitated and sometimes perpetrated by those in authority is part of the reason why some African Americans distrust the police. It's an emotional issue that can't just be dismissed by statistics.

And seriously, the killing in Georgia of that guy who stopped in a house under construction while jogging just happened a few months ago and isn't all that different from the Emmitt Till murder. White racists deciding they were going to show an African American who was in charge of things. They might be more discreet about it than they were in the pre-Civil Rights days, but the same base racism is manifesting itself today. At least acknowledge that and then we can get to talking about what to do about it.
