Some in the media are screwing up with that one. My understanding is that she said the science should not stand in the way of it but then made the argument that the reason for that is that the science supports it. She was not trying to say "ignore science." She was saying the science supports it.

Whether she was right about the science supporting it or not is another question. But my understanding is that she was not saying "ignore science."

I can go ahead and cite CNN on this one since CNN is biased the other way:

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Maybe we could have had college football this fall if people had only worn masks.
We were never having football with the media leading this charge....witness how they’re handling the bumps in TX, FL, GA and AZ compared to how they suck Cuomo’s dick in Times Square, despite the fact he presided over 10x the number of deaths because of his incompetence. You KNEW if things starting going up even slightly the media was gonna be all in on the “2nd wave” bullshit, while simultaneously failing to mention the little things called protests and riots that occurred in the first 10 days of June all across the country. But noooooo, it’s all because these damned red states had the audacity to reopen and people went about their lives. Utter BS. TX began reopening on 5/1. Things were FINE until about 6/15, miraculously 15 days after the start of the protests and riots in Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio. Suddenly we see big spikes in new cases but hey, it’s all because a few folks won’t wear masks....god forfucking bid the media call out the protestors and rioters.
You're not wrong about the media and Cuomo or the protesters and rioters. There are idiots on both sides of this debate that should be called out. Trumplorables are more likely to be football fans but they're so focused on being incensed over a "hoax" that they're contributing to the loss of the season. It's simple - practice good hygiene, wear a mask, and physical distance and we can get through this thing.

We lost that ability with community spread. Track and trace is most effective when the numbers are manageable.

A school board meeting on mask requirements in schools in Provo, Utah was disrupted because...you guessed it...a large group of anti-maskers showed up sitting elbow to elbow. They literally booed (viral load increase) when concerns were raised.

We so deserve this... :ohno:

Seriously

We could have been out of the woods a couple months ago

But “mah rats”

I’m as libertarian as they come... everybody knows that..

But there’s a big difference between doing as you’re told and doing what’s right

Social distancing and mask wearing is doing what’s right

Thank god for the Asians... if they had been half the cockmonkeys over the bird flu the way we’ve been over COVID, half of us would be dead by now

Point being, the country was doing fine, headed clearly towards a full reopening, until the SJW’s lost their collective shit and drug it out for days/weeks.

Had those riots/protests simply not happened, this country would be in a completely different place right now. Completely. Even without 100% mask compliance.

Protesting and rioting during a pandemic was stupid but that isn't the only problem. The deniers and hoaxers who wouldn't and won't wear a mask and/or insist on gathering in larger groups at beaches, bars, etc. bear a big chunk of the blame too.

Gotta say Washington has been kicking COVID in the ass. 7 day rolling average has us down around 5 per day, with only a small uptick after the riots. Even our rioters wear masks and socially distance.

Well according to some, just you wait!

7-day moving average of cases is up from a low of 187 on 5/23 to 839 today.

7-day moving average for deaths bottomed out at 5, but is up to about 9 now. And yesterday was your highest daily death toll since 5/21.

Yeah, if only it were that easy. Remember....big city mayors have already publicly stated all large gatherings are verboten, UNLESS they’re protests. So, good luck with that “collectively suffer together” stuff. :coffee:

I agree with the law, and the law is 100% on his side.

However, I would probably be a little more lenient as far as local mask mandates.

Isn't religion protected? Why is ok for the government to infringe upon person's religious rights but not their right to protest.

Note: I think a religious leader asking his/her followers to congregate for a service during a pandemic is selfish and stupid. Of course, I think the same of protest leaders.

Can you cite an example? Hard to follow each state or localities laws.

But, I believe most limit the size of indoor public gatherings (10, 50, 50% capacity, etc.) which applies to churches.

I don't think that's infringing on rights, just as I don't think occupancy laws for fire safety were pre-Covid.
