There is plenty of video available of them driving around in vans snatching people off the street away from the protests. Are they doing this to protect the courthouse or to intimidate people?
How is this different from tracking down protesters/rioters caught on video that are arrested days later? Both are well within the rights of the Federal authorities.

1) I'm not supporting the rioters. The Portland Police should be taking care of this not the Feds.
2) It might be legally acceptable for the Feds to be here to simply protect the courthouse (and I'm pretty sure they're pushing the limits of that justification) but them actually being here is a little scary from a how far will they go perspective. If this is acceptable to do to liberal protesters what will be acceptable to do to conservatives under a Democratic POTUS?
3) Trump and Wolf gave Mayor Wheeler a huge gift on this one. He was floundering and taking heat from all sides and they gave him a scapegoat.
4) If you really think that the Feds primary objective is to protect the courthouse and not to energize the Trumpsters and distract from Trump's other failings then I have rare and valuable shares in the New Jersey Generals to sell you.

Just a reminder, this should not have come to the Feds coming in had Wheeler not handcuffed the cops from doing their jobs and issuing a little stick work early on to keep it from getting to this point. Ultimately the government (pick a level, any level) is responsible for ensuring the security of its citizens. It's unfortunate that it takes the Feds to come in and do that but it is what it is.
