Yeah I’m not a full on libertarian because we part ways on immigration.Ivytalk wrote:Deviation from party orthodoxy? Shit, Ibanez, you ain’t seen nothin’ until you’ve witnessed a “you’re not a real Libertarian” cat fight!
A lot of “pure” libertarians don’t seem to realize that their open borders beliefs only work if the entire world is libertarian and all countries and cultures play by that same set of principles.

Oh bullshit. Feel free to criticize Trump all you want. It’s when bring a Trump supporter is equated with being a racist, a sexist, a bigot, a Nazi, a pedophile, a liar, a cheat, a blah blah blah blah that you’re gonna get called on it. Damned near every single open Trump supporter here (with 1 or 2 notable exceptions) has expressed significant reservations about him and his words/actions. I’d LOVE to have a better alternative, but he’s STILL the best of the two shitty alternatives. Criticize Trump. Criticize his policy actions, but don’t play that bullshit and assign HIS perceived shortcomings to every single conservative—that shit only flys on one side of the aisle.Ibanez wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 5:55 amExactly. You can criticize Trump here no problem but there are echo chambers where it isn't accepted. I criticize Trump on AGS and get called names, they back off when I post that I preferred him to Hillary but he is a despicable human being. There are a few that see nothing hypocritical about calling Biden Creepy Joe but think there is nothing to the 25 sexual misconduct and worse allegations against Trump. They mock the liberals and use racial innuendos. I'm pretty sure that AGS isn't the only place that is happening and isn't the worst. There are idiots on both sides stereotyping and using broad generalizations about the opposition.AZGrizFan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 8:21 amOh bullshit. Feel free to criticize Trump all you want. That's why I like it here.but I would guess that there are plenty of sites like AGS and worse where the alt-righters are hammering their keyboards and believing all of the BS that they type is fact because everyone else in their echo chambers agree. So we agree in principle. I wasn't trying to imply that they do this equally, I apologize for any confusion.89Hen wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 7:48 amI agree on the premise but not the level at which it's done from each side. Politicians on the right who do not toe the line are called RINO's and cast out, but the left does that with constituents. Biden saying you aint black, mobs yelling at people who won't put up the fist, etc..Ibanez wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 7:24 am Face it, in today's political climate there is no room for deviation. You must believe everything the party platform prescribes or else you are a traitor, a RINO, a whatever the left will call you. 100%, blind loyalty is required and any deviation from that is verboten. It's the same regardless of party.
That's always been my problem with the left. I have FAR more friends who are on the right and I have quite a few that are DEEP end right. But I know far more people who are DEEP end left.
I agree that the left commits this "sin" far too often than the right. However, the Right has been playing catch up since 2016.
The recent, "you must be as outraged and committed as I am" litmus test that the left is adopting is going to eventually eat them (in fact, hasn't that already begun to an extent?). The purity tests from both flanks is going to swallow them whole.

Exactly. They even both have their cults of personality. It took the Republicans longer to get there, but anyone that criticizes Trump is a traitor to the party, has TDS and is an un-American. We see that crap here. You cannot be a true Republican if you are going to think for yourself and express an opinion that is contrary to the party line.
I'm not talking about equating a Trump supporter to a baby killer. I'm saying that Congressman X speaks out against Trump or differs from him and they are suddenly a loser, traitor, needs to be thrown out or lose their leadership position. Liz Cheney spoke out and that drew the ire of Trump, Rand Paul and others. Same thing with Flake and John McCain. He spoke out, had the audacity to have his own opinions and was ridiculed and driven out of the party. Did Republicans change or has the Republican Party changed? Mitt Romney was the same. The Republicans are going through their own purity movement.

Not even, 88. This is all virtual bitch-slapping. The LP anarchist wing (from which VP candidate Spike Cohen came, although he’s “evolved”) is the worst.
