Arguing that only people with a graduate degree should be able to vote because you don't like the current POTUS is Trip-level naive and shortsighted. I don't like the POTUS so we have to change the system. It's no better than arguing that only people who own property should vote or that only white, males should vote.
AS I said it is not just not liking the current POTUS. That is kind of the final straw. But it's not the only indication.

It's different than arguing that only people with property or only White males should vote because it's directly related to being informed. We could, instead, do a poll test that's essentially a short IQ test and say only people with IQs 115 or above can vote. That would help Republicans in one respect in that it would disproportionately exclude Blacks and Hispanics. But I think the end result would still be bad for the Republican Party as it is. You'd be talking about only allowing the top 16% of the intelligence distribution to vote and I don't think Republicans would do well.
I almost missed this, this is where JSO says that Whites are gentically more intelligent than Blacks and Hispanics. This must have been one heck of a weekend for JSO, whatever alcohol or other drug he was using really produced a heckuva lot of classic posts, with this one possibly exceeding all the others.

Except the logical response from the opposition would to be to put together a coherent platform with a half decent candidate. Instead the DNC pushes the worst candidate ever (hildog) followed by an old white guy with dementia. But yeah let's just do away with the Presidency instead. :dunce:
Logic took off when we ended up with Hilary and Trump, and he ain't ever coming back

You need to quit acting like Trump is smart. He is not. He's where he is because, unfortunately, a lot of the US population is stupid.

It wasn't troll bait. He was trying to pander to women. It's not going to work. They are going to vote by a substantial margin for Biden. Especially the ones that are highly informed. Trump's strength is among the ignorant.

I'm more struck by seeing 35% of respondents WITH degrees saying they would vote for Trump.

IMO, Bernie Bros are less likely to actually go to a voting place than the MAGA crowd.

Social welfare does not equal socialism.

The social welfare programs in those states is funded by capitalism. People who extoll the virtues of socialism and demonize capitalism are idiots who lack understanding of history and economics (which is pretty amazing considering one of their leaders reportedly studied economics).

Try again!

So you’re saying it’s a mixed economy? Correct.

Unregulated and pure capitalism has never worked either. You aren’t an extremist are you?

Do you even bother to read my posts? Where have a stated that it isn't a mixed economy? That the debate shouldn't be between capitalism vs. socialism but about how much of a social safety net we should have? I'm really hurt! :( ;)

A decent amount considering Americans are the most productive people on Earth, possibly ever in human history.

The fact that today's wealth gap is worse than the Gilded age should tell you enough about how bad it's gotten.

No one argues capitalism is a method to the means, but Americans deserve significantly better benefits for their labor. The fear-mongering about socialism is dumb when the average person is working harder than ever and seeing their quality of life decrease.

Since when is the "quality of life" decreasing for the average person? Compared to what time period?

Proof? The average person is not working harder than ever. Have you ever read Steinbeck? Things could definitely be better (and I support efforts to give people equal opportunities, not outcomes) but we've never had it this good.

Your statement about "fear-mongering about socialism" can be flipped and applied to capitalism and its just as dumb as fear mongering about socialism. How many Democratic politicians and social justice groups demonize capitalism and demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of how important capitalism is to funding the social safety net? I won't be. Trip's usual MO after posts like that is to disappear from a thread for a few days. If asked when he returns he gives the "I have a life" excuse but rarely addresses the questions/comments. Our best hope for a response is for Kalm to tag in and try to save the day before being suplexed into unconsciousness. :D
