Trump was willing to do 3 in person debates.
I don’t consider one person in one location, and one person in another (coukd be thousands of miles away) streamed over the internet, a real debate.
Trump was willing to do 3 in person debates.

Trump handled it well. I personally don't have a problem with her antics and quips, but they should treat Biden no differently.
So you don't consider it makes it not a real debate? Do we not debate ideas on this message board? Your moving the goal posts, champ.
You're going to compare a message board to a live, in person, televised debate?

I’ve learned more from numerous CS debates than any Presidential debate I’ve ever watched. Debates are mostly for gullible apolitical dummies or political nerds who enjoy theater.
A debate is a debate
Yeah banter on a message board where you can take minutes, hrs or even days to respond, can look stuff up, copy/paste, can’t see the other person (nor can anyone else), is the same as a live/in person debate..

Well, if those are your criteria for an acceptable, "real" debate -
I hold debate practice sessions with my boxer and have the kids conduct oppo research before I enter into battle here.
According to Webster a debate is "a contention by words or arguments."

A debate doesn't have to be a formal setting, loosely moderated by a member of the media where candidates repeat memorized, canned responses in a short time frame. If anything, the debate we are involved here is better. More pure. It lasts longer and has actually educated the opposition.
Want to know something ironic? We're DEBATING what a debate is.

A debate is a debate regardless of whether it's in person or virtual.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 11:46 amYou didn‘t just move the goalposts, you blew them up..Ibanez wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 9:49 am According to Webster a debate is "a contention by words or arguments."

So you’re going to compare message board banter to a live in person debate also.

There is nothing to compare, a debate is a debate regardless of whether it is in person or virtual.

So not minimal?UNI88 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 2:28 pmWrong.
Who cares if a message board is comparable to a presidential debate or not. The differences between an in person debate and a debate with candidates in different locations are minimal. You're lost in the weeds deflecting from the reality that Trump is a pussy running from a situation where he can't try to bully and intimidate rather than actually debating.
I don't consider bullying and intimidation to be important parts of a debate so the differences are minimal.89Hen wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 2:35 pmSo not minimal?UNI88 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 2:28 pm

What? How? I stated facts and a definition. For consistency - you didn’t respond to my request.
But they could be effective or not effective, so a bigger part than you or I would care to admit.

You’re the one who initially brought up trying to compare debating on a message board to in person debating. Talk about silly (and blowing up the goalposts).

It might also be effective for a debater to use a baseball bat on their opponent but it wouldn't mean that they actually won the debate.
