I’ve learned more from numerous CS debates than any Presidential debate I’ve ever watched. Debates are mostly for gullible apolitical dummies or political nerds who enjoy theater.

Well, if those are your criteria for an acceptable, "real" debate -
time pressure, need to reply quickly: Yep, this is true in a streaming situation.
Can look up stuff: Would be able to prevent this in a streaming situation.
copy/paste: Yep, can't do that
Can't see the person (or anyone else): Streaming avoids this problem

So I guess you agree that streaming this debate with the two parties in separate locations would have qualified the same as a live/in person debate. Glad to see you're coming around
