Something that is being missed is what happened in the down ballot areas across the states. Personally I find this much more interesting from a potential future prediction, as state elections are usually a precursor to what happens nationally and could very well indicate a shift in 2022 midterms. Granted much depends on how Biden and the Democrats handle things in the next few years.
Eighty-six of 99 state legislative chambers across 44 states held general elections on November 3, 2020. As of 3:00 p.m. ET on November 9, partisan control flipped in two chambers—Republicans gained majorities in the New Hampshire House of Representatives and the New Hampshire State Senate.

Majorities in two chambers remained undecided: the Alaska House of Representatives and the Arizona House of Representatives.

Heading into the 2020 elections, Republicans had majorities in 59 chambers and Democrats had majorities in 39 chambers. In the Alaska House, there was a power-sharing agreement between the parties as part of a coalition.

The National Conference of State Legislatures' Tim Storey and Wendy Underhill wrote, "With just two chamber flips so far, it looks like 2020 will see the least party control changes on Election Day since at least 1944 when only four chambers changed hands. In the 1926 and 1928 elections, only one chamber changed hands."[1]

As a result of the 2020 elections, Republicans have so far gained trifectas—single-party control of the governorship and both state legislative chambers—in two states: New Hampshire and Montana. In New Hampshire, Gov. Chris Sununu (R) won re-election. In Montana, Republicans maintained majorities in both legislative chambers and Greg Gianforte (R) won the gubernatorial race.

Haven't we been over this?
Maybe...just few times.

The last 4 years haven't helped either side much.

That was a focus again for Dems this year, to try to wrench back control of state legislatures and governorships, especially with this being a 10 year election and redistricting beginning to start again in the new year following the census. Again, Biden did well enough at the top of the ticket to take the White House, but the Dems certainly underperformed elsewhere on the ballot, both federally and at the state level. Voters clearly went with the mixed government mandate this time around.

Let the gerrymandering began. :ohno:

I had never even thought of the census redistricting till one of the people I follow on youtube mentioned it and then I started to take a closer look at the state side. It is something that I will definitely have to pay attention as more is happening at the State level recently than federal.

A mixed bag is usually what happens when the pendulum swings too far in one or the other directions.

Many of the GOP’s litigation concerns are meritorious in principle. But the president’s inflammatory language undercuts the claim that Republicans seek merely to uphold statutory safeguards needed to validate the results’ credibility,” Benjamin L. Ginsberg, a longtime Republican elections lawyer who left Jones Day in August, wrote in The Washington Post the following month.

Six Jones Day lawyers said that given the small number of late-arriving ballots involved in the litigation, and the fact that they already had been segregated, the main goal of the litigation seemed to be to erode public confidence in the election results.

Socially, this country is gradually becoming more open-minded. Trump's presidency was a speed bump along the way that slowed that shift down but will be insignificant in the long run.

That is something that I don't think the modern pseudo-progressives understand and why they thought that Trump's election and possible reelection were the end of the republic.

The census has the potential to change quite a bit even outside of the redistricting area. I am curious to see if there are trends in state population levels and the racial makeup of areas vs voting records. I am a data junkie and I like seeing how many ways I can cut and slice the data to pull out different results and seeing if those trends pan out in the future.

Playing with data makes me a happy person. Well that and beer.

Disagree. I think his Presidency will have sped everything up for the better. There will always be the hold outs and the fact that the news likes to emphasis them is only because they like the ratings either making fun of them or embracing them brings.

Manchin: ‘I Will Not Vote’ for Court-Packing, Ending Filibuster if Dems Take Senate

On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) vowed that he will not vote for packing the courts or ending the filibuster if Democrats take the majority in the Senate. Manchin also expressed opposition to defunding the police, Medicare for all, and the Green New Deal.

None of the results are certified yet, so no. And no, the "software glitch" was found and fixed after the ballots were hand counted. How many other results are impacted by "software glitches"? It's something worth looking into imo. Shouldn't be hard to determine one way or the other after some spot checking/audits via hand counting.

One of the upsides from the election is the turmoil within the Democratic Party around their socialists members. AOC threatening to leave. People not sure what's going on with them.

How great would it be if either AOC left OR the Squad left the Democrats and joined the Socialist Party. I think you could run against them easier with that moniker. :twocents:

That happens after every election. It's called a canvass.
Um no. Try again. Canvassing is basically exit polling. I'm talking about an actual audit/recount of the votes that were cast.

Mean conks just have to eek out one of the Senate runoffs in GA, assuming Manchin sticks to his guns.
I think they just really need to win one of the seats, and to have Manchin on their side, to prevent court packing or Senate packing or ending the filibuster. Only winning one seat would leave the Dems in control of the Senate (with the VP tiebreaker) but if Manchin isn't going to go along with those more apocalyptic items then that would still serve to block those things from happening. Obviously, winning both Georgia runoffs would do that as well. I'd be surprised if there's a split outcome in those runoffs, I think the races go to one party, and if I had to be on it I'd say it would go to the GOP. But I don't bet so take that with a grain of salt.

Here's a state by state breakdown for you. It's not exit polling

An audit and a recount are different things. Do you want an audit in each of the relatively close states or a full recount?
