Ok. Two false for two. I just took a look at the SECOND issue I chose to follow up on raised by Peter Navarro's report at https://bannonswarroom.com/wp-content/u ... 5.20-1.pdf. If you look at pages 24 and 25 you will see the claim that absentee ballot rejections were improbably lower in 2020. So I did a quick Google. I got this:

https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-fact ... SKBN2832CM
False. Georgia rejected 2,011 ballots or 0.15% in 2020. In 2016 and 2018, Georgia’s ballot rejection rates were 0.24% and 0.15% respectively.
So, again, Navarro based an argument on improbability upon a false premise. And, again, the false premise was debunked well before he wrote his report (dated December 15). The Reuters fact check is dated November 23.

But what are those of us who recognize this stuff as BS to do in order to get through to the Trump Cult. All the Cult members know is that this BIG report came out PROVING that Trump was robbed. They just throw so much BS out it's impossible to get to all of it with respect to everybody. Then even if you DO get to them they don't believe it because they've been brainwashed into swalling the "YOU CAN'T BELIEVE THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA!!!!" fallacy.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Can you fix stupid?

So much of this is cyclical. Some of it is binary politics which is also a part of the cycle. Trumpers will continue to be assisted in their denial by adversarial (vs truth seeking) journalism unless/until the twin crises of a pandemic and lost faith in institutions and civics subsides. At that point they will either be relegated back to crazy uncle status (the rest of us embracing a new paradigm of positive change) or they will have assumed power in a more chaotic culture in which case many will be fucked and/or the United States will no longer exist in its current form.

I’m rooting for the former.

Trump isn’t the change agent, he’s simply one of many catalysts.

Crazy uncle status is a sexist label. It assumes that the extremists are male and that masculinity is bad. You need to spend 48 hours in self reflection so you can overcome your inherent bias and sexism and receive total consciousness. ;)

I've written before that Trump isn't the problem. The problem is that we have a substantial proportion of the population that would vote for and support somebody like Trump while buying the kind of BS he puts out. See Republican Base thread. It's a minority but it's a large minority. Large enough to gain power given a system such as ours that allows for minority rule. We have a deep rot in the population. Don't know how we're going to get rid of it.

Yep.

The troubling part isn’t clearing out the deadwood of previous generations. Time is against them.

It’s honestly my generation who is now assuming power...reared on a diet of imagined self reliance and disregard for kindness and community.

Cool NYT article with graphics on Team Brown voting patterns. Team Brown came out huge for Trump, put that in your pipe and smoke it JSO. :lol:
Across the United States, many areas with large populations of Latinos and residents of Asian descent, including ones with the highest numbers of immigrants, had something in common this election: a surge in turnout and a shift to the right, often a sizable one.

The pattern was evident in big cities like Chicago and New York, in California and Florida, and along the Texas border with Mexico, according to a New York Times analysis of voting in 28,000 precincts in more than 20 cities.

Spent the weekend at the lake house with an elderly aunt and uncle from Montana (both super liberal). The uncle was perfectly fine with fraud, because his guy won.

I reminded him that someday the shoe could be on the other foot.....his response? “I probably won’t be here in four years, so it doesn’t matter”.

No it's not. There is no equivalency. What's going on on the Republican base side is way worse.

Watching ABC national news tonight (my favorite to get a glimpse into the liberal media machine). The way they phrase a story going into a Trump discussion tries to build a case that he lost the election by 7,000,000 votes. He didn't. Sorry.

He lost the popular vote by 7,059,741
He lost California and New York by 7,096,597

Now, I'm not trying to say those don't count for the popular vote, but it really puts it into perspective how MOST of the country felt. It was a statistical draw.

If you want to know how much he really lost by...

Arizona = 10,457 margin
Georgia = 11,779 margin
Wisconsin = 20,682 margin
Nevada = 33,596 margin

76,514 votes from 275 Trump/263 Biden. By my math, that's 0.048% of the total votes cast. That's what he lost by.

FTR, if PA flips you can take out Nevada and Arizona and it's only three states, but the margin in PA was more than the other two combined.
