I like how they make the help wear the masks.
Masks make hypocrisy pretty easy to spot.
President Obama's 60th birthday bash and the fierce backlash it amassed has dampened the mood on partying in Washington.
Though the former president required Covid testing and vaccinations to attend the lavish fête, the event was deemed to be in poor taste amid the rampant spread of the Delta variant of Covid-19, and others are weary not to make their own PR blunder.

The former president, with much fanfare, announced shortly before the big day he was 'scaling back' his party from its originally planned headcount of 500 to only family and close friends, but a staffer working the event told DailyMail.com that there were still 300-400 in attendance.
So far 74 people have tested positive for Covid-19 on Martha's Vineyard since the Obama bash, though it's not clear if any cases were linked to the party. Still, the spike in cases is more than any week since April on Martha's Vineyard.

Just highlighting that there are many items that go into the testing of masks. Material and fit are just two of them.
I'm pretty sure this mask discussion was had about a year ago as anyone with a brain knew the absurdity in claiming the masks less than N95 served a purpose. Now the science has come in to backup the claim that they are mostly useless. Yay science.
Brains/common sense seems to be optional these days.

I don't think I will be getting a third booster when available. Even though my reaction to the second was only 24 hours, I would imagine it would be a lot worse for a third shot. Pass.
Japanese preprint study saying the Delta variant is really close to mutating enough that the vaccine actually won't work to prevent and actually could make it worse for those vaccinated.
Have to hit the PDF view to get all the specifics. If true, this was warned from the beginning.

Yes, when the science began to waver on the efficacy of masks was about the same time that we transitioned into the virtue signaling of masks - it's about showing that we care for our community or something like that.
I haven't been following "The Science", just "The Medicine", and haven't seen any wavering from places like the Mayo Clinic. When Mayo comes out with a study saying Masks have no use, then I'll believe them. Many people, including favorite politicians and favorite news media, Fox, CNN, still don't understand what the mask is suppose to do.

I for one am a big fan of masks, BLM, vaccine, Trump, and even Biden. They have saved me a ton of money on weeding out potential dates.

As someone who used to know everyone and was a get along guy, I’m now fast approaching curmudgeonly, crusty, old guy status.
Fauci says Covid won’t be “under control” until fall of 2022. I’m sure the donk establishment got to him, because he then walked back the claim, saying he ‘misspoke’, and meant the Spring of 2022. https://headlineusa.com/fauci-walk-back ... fall-2022/
So get ready for a whole nother year of masks & mandates that will all conveniently end before the 2022 midterms

Under control is a nebulous phrase and there are many factors including location, world wide vaccination rates, travel amd migration. Could be years could be 2022 if/when medicine improves.

That’s not a bad thing.
I was born a curmudgeonly, crusty, get off my lawn, old guy.
Now I am a person that thinks the more somebody tells me to trust them, the less I trust them.
One of my favorite TV quotes is "Everybody lies". Trust has to be earned, it is not given. And the last two years have proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt (not that the preceding years didn't hint at it).

I would love to laugh but it hits too close to the direction we are headed.

Separating "Medicine" from "Science means we are back to the days draining bad blood and using leeches.
For me, following the data is a much better alternative then getting the "bad spirits" drained out of me. But then again, I think that leeches should only be used as fishing bait.

You might be missing Gil’s point. He didn’t say medicine should be separated from science.
And why use actual leaches when a perfectly fine imitation can be created from fur and feathers.
The American Civil Liberties Union, representing disability rights groups and parents of children with disabilities, filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday over a South Carolina law that bans school districts from requiring face masks, arguing the ban excludes vulnerable students from public schools.
The plaintiffs allege that the ban on mask mandates disproportionately affects students with underlying health conditions or disabilities, who are at risk of becoming seriously ill if they contract COVID-19.
South Carolina legislators included a provision in the state’s general budget, passed in June, that prevented school districts from using state funding to require masks in schools. But some school districts and cities have disregarded the ban and gone forward with implementing a school mask mandate.
The ban on mask mandates is in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act, the plaintiffs allege in the lawsuit.
Under the ADA and the Rehabilitation Act, public schools cannot exclude students with disabilities or segregate them unnecessarily from their peers. Schools are also required to provide reasonable modifications to allow students with disabilities to participate fully.
“By making schools a dangerous place for these students with disabilities, they are essentially forcing their parents to choose between their child’s education and their child’s health,” said Susan Mizner, director of the ACLU’s Disability Rights Project. “And that is going to exclude them from their public education.”

Interesting on several levels…

Today's "Science" is politically and monetarily driven, with very little truth being released to the general public thru news media and the internet. Physicians take a Hippocratic Oath to help people. When a person finds a Doctor that they believe is truly following the oath they gave, they are usually using the best studies, testing available, and data, to treat their patients. "Science" in today's world is one of the most overly used terms to spread fake news and political agenda.
