In my wish the US would have started moving aircraft and support infrastructure to Ukraine as well as positioning aircraft carriers quite some time ago. Or, if getting the infrastructure in Ukraine is not possible, I'd wish we'd operate out of other parts of Europe. I am inclined in that way because I think that this is one of those things that needs to be stopped early on if it's going to be stopped without things getting way worse.

But I understand that I don't know. I am inclined to think that we are way superior to Russia in terms of air power. I don't believe they would have any chance against us in air battle. I could be wrong about that.

Also, there is that nuclear weapons thing. Any time this sort of thing starts happening there is that "End of the World as We Know It" thing in the background.

Finally, I know very well that the majority of the US population would not support it.

They were invited! Punch and pie was served!

130k troops along the border.....you don't do that unless you're either invading. I wouldn't even say intimidating b/c the logistics for 130k people requires tremendous support and coordination.

And now Boris Johnson is planning some tour of Europe to avoid war...? Uh....doesn't this sounds like Munich 1938??

Oh..and have y'all seen the pictures of Ukrainian civilians undergoing weapons training!?
Maybe true, but that doesn’t stick out as a ginormous # to me, though. Maybe around half an Army. Maybe only 15k front line/combat arms (going by the assumption that in a 1st world army around 90% of personell are support/10% front line/combat arms.
It doesn't have to be a ginormous number, just big enough annihilate Ukraine's military.

We are.

Way behind

Edit: also way behind in quantum. And 5th gen fighter tech (big surprises coming there)

You'd think that given the amount of money that the Pentagon can't or, hopefully, won't, account for that we'd have the high ground covered pretty well but most likely it wound up offshore in private accounts. Why do we keep pissing away more money on our military than the 10 next largest militaries combined spend but keep falling further behind?

He doesn't need to. The West will allow him to take the "Russian" parts of Ukraine. If he takes "too much" then it'll go hot.

And no one outside of the warmongering elites and MIC will give a fuck.

:dunce: No shit. Putin is the 2nd President since the fall of the USSR. He was KGB and FSB and since he took power in 2004 has overseen an Authoritative shift in the country. He was counter-intelligence. Some conspiracy theorist would suggest he was put in place to create a 2nd USSR of sorts. I'm sure some booger-eater in his mom's basement is making a youtube video about this.

This may well be the end of the invasion for now. Russian separatists can now just “invite” the Russian military into the Donbas region.

Depends on who you are. If you're Russia - yes. They were invited in by comrades. If you're the Ukraine or NATO - it's an invasion. :twocents:

For a guy that harps on intelligence - that is one of the dumbest things you've ever said. :dunce: :dunce: You don't tell an adversary it's ok to invade. What sort of message does that send about your strength? What does that say to the Ukrainians? Other countries that Russia might want to bring back into the fold? If ANY country has the right to tell the Russians they can invade, it's the Ukrainians and only them. I didn't read the rest of your post b/c your second sentence and its proposition is asinine.

Haven't we already learned our "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" lesson from the Nazis and other dictators??

If you give a Putin a break-off region, he's going to want the Ukraine.
If you give a Putin the Ukraine, he's going to want another former Soviet satellite country.

I thought the LGBTI was a VW sports car.

While we’re feverishly speculating, which “Stanistan” will be the first to return to Mother Russia? Like the Snoats brothers returning to prison at the end of Raising Arizona.
