Re: Northern Colorado?
UNC was close to a few wins last year, just couldn't get over the last hurdle.
Not counting it as a win for NAU, but I believe the game is in Flag, so that will be an advantage for NAU.
I really think about the only horrid team (now watch NAU lose to them) is ISU.

Re: Northern Colorado?
Potentially they could finish in the top half, and maybe get a shocker of a win this season, the team appears fairly sound.
That being said, Scott has got to prove to me that he can lead a team to be disciplined, tough, and one that limits turnovers. He is proving to be a great recruiter, he just needs to be a tougher coach IMO.
I am anxious to see what kind of squad they really are, the heavy cloak of mediocrity and almost winning is sometimes much heaver that you think.
They will not be the cellar dweller this year, and you all can beat me up over that if it turns out to be a lame prediction.

Their board is not terribly active, but there are several guys that watch practice, and maybe one insider posting on it, they think they are headed out of the fog-

For the reasons already stated I too think it's time for them to put a few more wins together. They were in so many games last year that if the same thing occurs this year it's hard to imagine them not getting a couple of more victories in the dog fights.

Off topic I know but...
I was on their campus while on my honeymoon and was highly underimpressed with their facilities.

Their field was nice, the stadium, I could tell was recently D2. Their practice field was extremely nice, but other than that I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped I would be. The entire campus just underwhelmed me, and TBH for that matter, she thought about getting her PhD there.grizzaholic wrote:Not sure if it matters, I would think it would, they moved up from D-II not all that long ago. It could just be the area of Greeley, or Greeley itself. Kind of a shatty area we though

Like I kinda said, it could have just been the Greeley area that made it seem worse that it is. Put it in a nice area/town and it probably looks/feels much nicergrizzaholic wrote:I have never been there, got next year's game circled.clenz wrote: Their field was nice, the stadium, I could tell was recently D2. JMU & Tx st. are building their facilities up BEFORE they move up. nor col's lack luster stadium doesnt cut it. they arent the worst, but they should really do some upgrades.grizzaholic wrote: Not sure if it matters, I would think it would, they moved up from D-II not all that long ago. Re: Northern Colorado?
They went into the Big Sky thinking they could do it underfunded and half assed like they did when they got out of little D-2 and into the North Central. Trouble is they thought they'd get away with it since it has worked out for them well in the past. Nottingham was built with D-2 in mind all the way, but it can be brought up to Big Sky standards. The deal at UNC is that they are third in line for state funding, and geographically too close to Air Force Academy, CU, CSU, Wyoming, and the Broncos. They ain't never going to draw a Montana sized crowd regardless of who they were playing sans one of the aforementioned competing venues.
The thing they do have gentlemen, believe it or not, is a fertile recruiting area that lies right under the radar of the big boys. Given time, and finding support, this program can find it's way to the top.
And Clenz, you from Iowa boy, you know what cow poop smells like.
That's about all Iowa would have in common with Greeley.

agreed: stadiums that were foolishly built with a track around them, have a great,CHEAP, upgrade that can always be done. endzone seating!Wedgebuster wrote:.... Nottingham was built with D-2 in mind all the way, but it can be brought up to Big Sky standards......
Endzone seating behind the endzone and in front of the track is a great way to increas stadium capacity... just look at eastern!
Btw Nevada has taken this idea to 30,000! doesnt look too bad either.

Re: Northern Colorado?
Last year they could have easily won 5 more games, but had the untimely turnover etc that stopped them. They have a solid qb and rb so that is always a good place to start. They could easily finish midpack. I don't know if they have enough to challenge Weber, UM, or EWU.
They match up very well with Montana State whom they closely mirror. Great game early in the season that should say a lot about both teams. Hopefully MSU will show up and play this time around in Greeley.
Every year they take a step forward in their development/talent level. From here on out they should be a midpack team but have a long ways to go before they are a playoff caliber team.

Re: Northern Colorado?
Why not remove the track, lower the field by 10 feet, and add extra seating to make it look similar to Wa/Griz? Realizing of course, that sometimes it's not feasible to do that....BlackFalkin wrote:agreed: stadiums that were foolishly built with a track around them, have a great,CHEAP, upgrade that can always be done. endzone seating!Wedgebuster wrote:.... Re: Northern Colorado?
UNC could finish in the middle of the pack this year in the BS.
As for facilities - they're improving. Nottingham Field needs improvement but we're currently in the middle of an $11 Million facility upgrade that includes our basketball gym and a new weight room.
As for the campus itself, I think it's pretty nice. Especially the old buildings in the older part of the campus. But Greeley sucks.
