That's the point that I think is the bigger story out of this. I mean, Hunter, the son of a politician, profiting, and perhaps illegally profiting off his family name? Not that I think it should go unpunished but that kind of bad behavior happens quite a lot - it doesn't really raise the needle much anymore, sadly. I think the bigger story has always been, though, the complete capitulation of the national media (most of the national media) as well as social network sites to coordinate the squashing of the story for fear of what impact the story could have on an imminent election. The story was deemed fake and likely the result of a foreign adversary almost as soon as it came out, and once branded that it was amazingly easy to dismiss. And all of that was done completely out in the open - the media told us they were deeming the story fake and the social media sites were explicit on what tools they were implementing to put the story where they felt it should be, buried and unavailable. I know people on this site, and in the country, rail against the specter of fascism. I would, though, argue that we haven't seen a more brazen display of modern fascism in this country than we did with the Hunter Biden story. And we did it to, supposedly, stop fascism in the likeness of Trump. Again, the weird decision to fight fascism with even more fascism.
