trump isn't getting more popular. His base loves him and he's polling well with moderates/independents not because they like him but because they currently like biden less. That isn't popularity and it can change quickly.

It might be yesterday to MAGAt yahoos who will forgive any transgression trump commits (and cry lawfare/witch hunt if officials attempt to hold him accountable) but failure doesn't mean it wasn't a violent and significant event and Democrats will be smart to make it a key point in 2024.
