I shared that opinion when trump was first elected in 2016/2017 with regard to him and Pence but I'm not sure anymore.

IMO trump believes that whatever he says is the truth, that anything that helps him is legal and anything that hurts or criticizes him or his causes is illegal (see his comments on 60 Minutes). That is the dangerous perspective of a wannabe tinpot banana republic dictator. It would be different if Congress was reigning him in rather than attempting to enable him.
