Big Sky Predictions 11-22

Post by JALMOND »

One more week and I am currently at 71-18 for the year. Rivalry weekend, which makes a perfect week difficult as everyone wants to beat their rival. This final week in the Big Sky, three rival games, The Potato Bowl, the Causeway Classic, and the Brawl of the Wild all are shaping up to be some rally good ones. Here are my predictions for this weekend's games.

NAU at WSU---The Lumberjacks are still hoping for a playoff spot and they need a win and some help. The Wildcats have not looked good all year, but would love to spoil their opponents hopes. The Lumberjacks have more to play for, but it could be rather close...NAU 24, WSU 22.

PSU at UNC---The Who Really Cares bowl. The two teams at the opposite ends of the conference. The Vikings have had few good moments during the season. The Bears started off looking good, then fell off as the season went. Both playing for pride, who wants it more...UNC 20, PSU 14.

EWU at CP---The Eagles have put together a good season and while there are no playoffs for them, they have overachieved this year. The Mustangs have looked good against most teams, but haven't got the wins. Playing at home, maybe the Mustangs can finally get this one...CP 31, EWU 28.

ISU at UI---The Bengals have emerged from their rivals dark shadow this year and have been the better team as the year has gone by. The Vandals have not been as dominate this year as they have been in years past. But in a rivalry game, anything can happen and the Vandals are home...UI 27, ISU 24.

SAC at UCD---With the Hornets moving up next year, will this rivalry game ever be played again? Both teams are in the playoff hunt and while both probably get in, the loser may need some help. The Hornets want to close out their FCS time with a win. The Aggies want the playoffs...UCD 33, SAC 30.

MSU at UM---The Brawl. The Bobcats have a couple losses but they have looked really tough against the conference, steamrolling almost everyone in their path. The Grizzlies are undefeated and are hoping to stay that way heading into the playoffs. This will be a great game...MSU 38, UM 28.

EWU 27-24 Calol Poly — The Paul Wulff Bowl figures to go to the hotter team

Sac State 24-31 DavisThe history of the Causeway Classic tells me, "When in doubt, go with Davis"

Idaho St. 30-34 IdahoThe Vandals have a 33-13 edge in this semi-rivalry

NAU 35-21 Weber — The 'Jacks get a good opponent for a "playoff berth potentially on the line" game

Montana St. 20-28 MontanaEverything points to the 'Cats being better, but the road team hasn't bothered to show up for the Brawl since 2018

Portland St. 20-31 NoCoThe Bears have looked pretty bad of late, but I don't think they've looked any worse than Portland State

PSU vs UNC: UNC, Bears are at home and want to build momentum into next year.
NAU vs WSU: NAU, Lumberjacks are just the better team and playing for the playoffs
ISU vs Idaho: ISU has played better and they are due to beat Idaho in Moscow for the first time since 1981.
SAC vs UCD: UCD, UCD is at home and I like their QB though he is a good actor
EWU vs Cal Poly: EWU, the Eagles have been playing better the last month
MSU vs UM: MSU, this game worries me due to the road team getting crushed the last few years. I think Vigan wants this one bad and the Cats are due to beat the Griz in Missoula.

6-0 last week
72-15 overall

In fairness, Montana's defense has struggled to shut much of anything down this season. Let's just say that I'm glad it's in Missoula. Take all the advantage we can.

Already talk these two teams meet again in the playoffs.

We exposed the Griz secondary but that was due to a young QB who played a whale of a game despite getting absolutely pounded.

I’ll favor the Cats because they’ve been on a tear through the conference but Bobby ball of taking chances with relentless blitzing and special teams play could win the day.
Maybe a little trickery with Wortham. He’s dangerous in space and fast af.

I know I'm late...these are intended to be before the games as I haven't seen any scores....

N. Arizona d. BBQ 31-17
N. Colorado d. Portland State 24-6
E. Washington d. Cow Poly 21-10
Idalol d. ID State 45-10
Sac State d. Manure Pile 56-17
Montana d. MT State 35-34

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

What a game. Came down to two mistakes. Blocked FG and tipped pass interception. Outside that, mistake free.

Yes it was. Both should make a deep run.
