Charlie makes a nice symbolic move and brings in Brad Lidge to get the last out.
you guys gonna give the Marlins playoff shares? Third consecutive season they have officially clinched the division for ya.
I don't think that is true. I believe that in 2007 and 2008 the Phils clinched the division themselves by winning (the Marlins may have clinched a tie).
As I remember it:
In 2007 the Phils and Mets enterd the last day tied, the Marlins beat the Mets before the Phillies game ended.
In 2008 the Phils won the division when Brad Lidge got a game ending double play against the Nats on the next to last day of the season.
This year the Marlins clinched it for the Phils by a matter of about 2 minutes.
The Mutts screwed the pooch last night, becoming the first team all year to let the lowly Nats stage a 9th-inning comeback when K-Rod gave up a 9th-inning grand salami to Johnny Whoozis.

I'm thinking 5, but I like your prediction better. The Phils need to hold serve at home.
why does it have to be the rockies??? having nightmares of 2007 right now...
Of the 4 NL playoff teams, the top seeded Dodgers may be the weakest. Manny hasn't been the same since he returned from his suspension.
I'm a little more confident than I was in 2007, primarily because the Phils are defending champs, but I hope the cold weather doesn't shut down the Phillies bats. Not to mention the bullpen issues.

The Rockies also aren't coming off a 21 out of 22 stretch this year... Phillies batting line up has gotten even better since then and the rotation looks a lot better (to me at least) than it did in 2007... the bull pen is the issue with Romero out and Moyer out in case the phils need a long-long reliever as well as the status of the manic closer... but these are issues the phils dealt with all year and still managed to win the NL east.

NL MVP? Down to Pujols and Howard?
I think Pujols wins it, he puts up great numbers and doesn't have as many great hitters around him as Howard (especially before the Holliday trade).
Huge win this morning! Phils steal back home field advantage and go up 2-1 on the Rockies. Here's to Cliff Lee closing it out later today, after I get some sleep.
i have to say... someone at mlb deserves to get a grande latte enema for scheduling this one... the game ended at 215 am in Philly... a shitty thing to do to the WFC... and something they would never do to one of their "holy grail" markets (even though philly is the 4th largest, because denver is like 18th... you get hosed)

WOOT WOOO!!! What a come back! Phils left Lee in way to long, he was around 120 pitches starting the 8th inning. Seems like Manuel has a lot of faith in the bull pen.

Yeah, maybe he does but I sure as hell don't. I don't know if I can take too much of this shit. Go out, score a bunch of runs and let me breath the rest of the game........pleeeease
