One advantage to a 12 team conference is being forced to play games against teams that would now be in your conference rather than negotiating less than favorable home and homes which can be bought out.
And you would think the number of at-larges would similar to what the CAA gets.
I think the more FCS schools out west the better, and the more with solid conference affilitations the better. I wonder the chances of more DII's moving up in the near future. CWU, WOU?
I see where you are getting at but I thought 6 was the minimum a conference needs to be eligible for an AQ playoff spot. My feeling is with a 12 member conference, not all the schools will play each other and there could be the potential to have schools with the same conference record come the end of the season. Basically the conference champ wouldn’t necessarily be determined on the field. Also there wouldn’t be more than 8 conference games anyways so that still leaves the schools to find 3 non conference games…which would possibly be harder as now all the regional FCS teams would be in the conference.
Doesn't this exact situation often occur in the CAA? I know that teams in that conference do not play every conference member, so teams often end with the same conference record, and a convoluted tie breaker scenario.
