They were schedule to play a three game series starting next year.. first and last games at UD.. middle game at SDST. Apparently that has been changed.. SDST will still come to UD next year.. but the other games look like they will be cancelled. UD has also apparently turned down an offer to play Pitt in 2014.. apparently KC needs room on future schedules to load up on a few more of the cup cakes like West Chester, Duquesne and Monmouth.....
Hen scratch
Delaware is expected to announce after the season it has reached an agreement with South Dakota State to cancel their scheduled games in 2011 (there) and 2012 (here). They'll still play here Sept. 11, 2010. Delaware has not filled those dates, but Delaware State is the most likely foe for the 2011 opening. ... Delaware has told Pittsburgh it is not interested in a 2014 game proposed by the Big East's Panthers. Keeler's preferred policy is playing I-AA schools at home in future nonconference games
Hey, no fair trying to subvert the definition of the word. I don't seem to recall UD playing a home game in a home and home series, and then, after playing that first game waiting until the Spring of the following year to cancel the return game while chasing a sure-loss payday. The term "Furmaned" just doesn't apply in this case.

What is that supposed to mean? How many service academies travel to FCS opponents any more? Let me go ahead and save you the research time: none. All of Navy, Army, and Air Force's trips are to FBS opponents.
Navy won't bus the 80 miles to Newark to play a home and home with Delaware. They'd lose money.
The more I think about this, the more it pisses me off. What is the point of this? Play the damn game. Thats pretty weak when you keep your home game and are still unwilling to travel to SDSU.

If SDSU wants to then I'm sure they can renegotiate for more money if the original contract is broken can't they? SDSU also can walk away from that game with no responsibility if they get a better offer from someone else.

I don't get the being offended over something on someone else's behalf thing I guess. Maybe you just feel superior to the deal that SDSU's administration was trying to pull off for their school. I guess that's pretty easy to do when you don't have any constraints to work with and just use some manufactured "anger". I have no idea why SDSU went for that deal but they must know about their situation better than you do. I don't know for sure what Delaware's situation is on this either but I would bet you that it has a lot to do with financial considerations that fans of other teams have absolutely nothing to do with.
FWIW I never held any animosity toward UNI for not coming to Missoula after we went there.
It seemed pretty stupid to be that invested in a school doing what they had to do.
I don't know the terms of the deal but my guess would be that SDSU got some money out of it and now can schedule a more local game to limit travel expenses (say one of the UXD's).
I am very dissapointed as I would like to see some of those far east teams brought west a bit more often but in the end the decision was likely a financial one made to benefit both schools

Good post.
I never felt any animosity towards Furman for cancelling their game with UD this year (I may have a little fun with Furman posters, but I'm not at all upset).
These decisions are probably motivated by economics and I can't fault anyone for wanting to pay the bills.
I am sorry that UD won't be travelling to SDSU though, I'd prefer to see a true home and home.
