We are in serious decline. Too much hate, too much pettiness. Polarization, stubbornness and cruelty rule the day. We have an irresponsible media that, from both directions, sensationalizes everything that is negative. We are a society that craves controversy. This board is a microsomic example. We agree on so much, yet we let the little sh*t cloud our thinking and all we do is perpetuate our sad state of affairs.

I am very worried for my children.

Revolution, term limits and an understanding that it's going to be bad. If you want to be part of it, then don't bitch. If not, you are more that welcome to the leave the country.

Seriously, Nazi Germany did just that,(maybe not term limits) but they even paid for the Jews, Catholics, Gyspises, Non Aryan's to leave (by a certain date) and they became so wealthy and powerful in about 7 years. But thier hate and war was the downfall. The interstate system, the New Deal, Social Security, and more were taken from Nazi Germany.

***I'm not excusing Hitler for the atrocities he committed, but stating that they way he rebuilt Germany might be a good example, minus the mass murder and world domination***

A Strong Federal Government is an absolute requirement. Individuals, Corporations and local governments, whether at a state or local level, have proven time and time again of being incapable of allowing/promoting equality for all Americans

A strong government does not have to be a large government. Explain to me why Lincoln grew the gov't so much? Explain to me why his railroad ideas failed in Illinois, failed in Washington? Explain to me why a private company took his idea, made it work in less time and on budget? Explain to me why we are the Superpower yet write loopholes into our laws so that they will be taken advantage of by the people it's meant to protect.

State and local goverments are starting to give your people the rights they deserve. You can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time, but you know what? This country does have some decent men and women and it is begining to show.

On Veterans day I went to my towns service 11am (Who can tell my why it was 11? I know why ). If you looked around the audience, you would see the answer to your question in part. Take a guess at who I saw while there? Most of the people that I saw were either elderly people or Veterans. There were very few people that were in the 20-50 range. While I know some people would have gone if they could have and a lot probably had to work, but that is the group of people have sacrificed of themselves for this country. People back home felt the great wars, saw the direct consequences of them. There was hardly a soul that couldn't feel the impact of the wars. Today's wars are really only being felt by the soldiers and their families. The average citizen during world war II had to get a ration card, most could tell you names of friends and family that had died. The average citizen today does not see the ugly or even the good side of the wars today. I bet most couldn't tell you even one name of a soldier that had been killed. The media does not cover things well at all, they only cover what they feel like and most of what they report is something they think proves a point for them.

Also during that Veterans day service, the main speaker brought up an interesting point. He described what happens during ever legislation session these days, both state and federal. Basically he said they sit down and try to create lots of new laws to make people do what is right. The more I thought about that, the more I agreed with it. If people would just do the right thing instead of the legal thing, the country would be a lot better off. People used to do the right thing, today, not so much.

So I worry with you but I also know there isn't a better country in the world and I know we will get through it. We have our problems, but it's our country and we will get it righted at some point, always have, always will.
