I agree with bpcats . At least EWU is making efforts to improve and whether those efforts are just temporary, they are still improvements. I do wish EWU would have went with an all black field or something else other than red. Yeah, it looks ok in the aerial mock-ups with the whole area and stands to offset the red but imagine game day on tv and the cameras zoom in on a play and your entire screen is filled with a bright, glaring red color. Yuck, nauseating. Now, a screen of black would be bearable, at least. That and probably more badass...I agree. But eventually the novelty of a red field will wear off. Ultimately EWU will have to win on the field regardless of what color the field is.bpcats wrote:I think that overall this is a good deal for EWU. First of all by picking red as their field color they were able to generate support and donations to improve their football field. Considering the fact that some Washington schools had to drop their football programs any positive attention to the Eastern's program has to help.
Eastern has had a good football program for years now and any help getting people to show up and watch them play on a regular basis would be nice.

Re: ESPN article on EWU's red turf
I was thinking about what black would have looked like, and I think it would look pretty cool - black, with red end zones. But I suppose the reason they went with red is because it's the school's primary color. I still like the look of the red, but either way, I don't think anyone can really pass judgment on it until we see the real thing in person, or see what it looks like on tv. I, for one, don't mind watching BSU on tv, so as long as it's not any worse than that, I think it'll be ok.DoubleNicks wrote:I agree with bpcats . Can you imagine how hot an all black field would be in mid September on an 85 degree day?

Yeah. And that's probably the other reason they decided to go with red. A black surface would be unbearable the first couple of months of the season.Griz Growler wrote:Can you imagine how hot an all black field would be in mid September on an 85 degree day?

Whereas a red field will be hidiously unbearable the entire season.

Good thing it'll be at EWU, and not MSU. You're certainly entitled to your opinion though.GOKATS wrote:EWURanger wrote:

With that color field, a great stadium layout would be to have "wings" bulging bewteen the 30's.
Even without that improvement, this field will surely be the only one to remove odor and wetness.

MSU has shared 3 titles in the last 10 years, EWU 2. Big whoop. EWU has beaten MSU 8 times in that span, and advanced to the playoffs 4 times, MSU 3 times.clenz wrote:MSU has won more shares of the title than EWU the last decadeScreamin_Eagle174 wrote:

There're 2 or 3 of you guys whose heads are going to implode when you get thumped this year. Unfortunately the Bobcats wont be able to do it on the 'rag rug' this year, we'll do it in our house.

Just like in '06, huh? EWU had just graduated Payton winner Erik Meyer along with 16 starters. EWU comes to Bozomen, etc etc.GOKATS wrote:BlackFalkin wrote:It wont be funny when UM & MSU get dismantled on that TOP NOTCH turf.

That's what you guys said last year. Was it you, or FTG'06 who virtually guaranteed me that MSU would win, and that there was NO WAY that EWU would put more than 24 points on the Cats in '09?
P.S.
7-straight.

Don't know if anybody else has noticed this but...If UM has a streak over EWU in the past 10 yrs. it doesn't mean anything about next year. If EWU has a streak over the Cats then it is all you need to know.
Fucking beautiful boys.
