He's either going to remembered as a pussy or an asshole by the city. For a while, he's been a pussy getting fucked by the dick LeBron. Now he wants to be an asshole so at least if he's fucked, he can shit all over the dick.

Who are you talking about? Gilbert? I don't Cleveland fans have any problem with him right now, they know he did all he could to resign LeBron.

Wow, Gilbert really came out firing...

Gilbert says James quit on the Cavs during their second-round series against the Boston Celtics, who rallied from a 2-1 deficit to eliminate Cleveland.

"He quit," Gilbert said. "Not just in Game 5, but in Games 2, 4 and 6. Watch the tape. The Boston series was unlike anything in the history of sports for a superstar."

The Cavaliers were beaten by 32 points in Game 5. During the game, James appeared distracted and uninterested, often glaring at Cleveland's coaches as the Cavs tried to foul to get back into the game in the second half. James also made some puzzling postgame comments, saying he had "spoiled" people with his play over seven seasons.

Gilbert also said he believes James quit on the Cavs in Game 6 of their series in 2009 against Orlando.

"Go back and look at the tape," he said. "How many shots did he take?"

Gilbert, who has owned the Cavs for five years, said he was most disappointed by James' behavior in the months leading up to the superstar's announcement that he is going to Miami to play with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Gilbert said James never returned a single phone message or text since the end of the season and that the Cavs were not informed of James' decision until he went on the air.

Gilbert said Rich Paul, one of James' business partners, called the Cavs moments before the announcement.

"LeBron James needs to go to another team with two superstars already so he can win a championship," Gilbert said. "We will win a championship before [the Heat] do."

The funniest part of the letter maybe that it was posted on the Cavs website using comic Sans font. I have reposted the letter in the first post using images instead of a copy and paste of the text.

OK,
Well actually you're being kind to Cleveland in that comparison.

On one hand I can't blame Dan Gilbert because the value of his franchise just dropped by over $100M in one night. On the other hand, he's burning some bridges, getting guys to come to Cleveland in the 1st place is hard enough, now it might be even tougher. Cleveland is a dead city.

Gilbert needed to draft that to get it off his chest, then he should have thrown it away.

Saying your star player quit on you in the playoffs is pretty strong and really unbecoming for an owner.

If Lebron wanted to truly become the next face of the NBA, he had two options: stay in Cleveland or sign with the Knicks. But it was his decision. Once it was made, there's no point in blasting the guy.

We need to keep perspective. He's a basketball player. If he didn't want Cleveland's money, there are a lot of very good players still out there.

I agree, but none of them will want to play in Cleveland. The Cavs caught a huge break that a player like Lebron was from that area and didn't know any better. My only gripe was the whole tv thing, could he at least have had one of those boys and girls club kids sitting next to him?

He shouldn't have done the TV thing at all. He flat out lied when he said the free agency experience was humbling. If he was humble he would have just signed with the Heat. But instead, the King of hype has to call attention to himself first.

I've never understood the love affiar with the Knicks. I keep hearing the Knicks are one of the premire teams in the history of the NBA. They play in New York, that is all they have going for them. They have two NBA titles, WAY BACK IN 1970 and 1973. They only have 4 conference titles 72, 73, 94, 99.

Hell, they are only one game over .500 in their history (2418-2417). They have two winning seasons since the 1999-2000 season (I went there since that is the last 10 seasons) and those were the 99-00 season and the 00-01 season. Their highest win total since then is 39 in 2004, which they somehow made the playoffs...which just speaks to how bad the East has been.

Outside of playing in New York City (MSG mostly) they have ZERO going for them.

But the Knicks play in the greatest city in the US, by far, and in one of the most famous arenas in the world. They are currently the 2d most valuable franchise in the NBA, although they often rank as No. 1.

On top of that, New York City is a basketball crazed city. The Knicks play in front of a sell-out crowd of over 20,000 per night, and their TV ratings are so good that they are the cornerstone of their own sports network (MSG). While most NBA franchises play in arenas named after sleazy banks, the Knicks still play in the arena with the most hallowed name of them all -- Madison Square Garden.

And they do all this without putting a winner on the floor for years and years. What franchise in the NBA could still sell out every night putting out the product that the Knicks have?

Lebron could have brought success to the Knicks and become the new face of the NBA, but now he's never going to get to the level of Jordan or Magic. New York was ripe for the taking. In New York, they would have named a portion of Broadway after Lebon, but he decided to go to a second-rate city.

Some other guy is going to turn the Knicks around. He will probably never be as good as Lebron, but he will be more popular and will ultimately make more money.

Really? How often do you get to Madison Square Garden to see the Knicks?

Because every time I go, the place is filled.

Biggest rip by an owner on a player since George Steinbrenner called Hideki Irabu a "fat pussy toad."

Gilbert still has a way to go, though.

All that was fine and true 10 or 20 years ago, but New York is no longer at the pinnacle of the basketball world like it was. Kids today really don't know anything about MSG other than maybe it's the place where the Big East tournament is played. I'll agree that they get good crowds, but Lebron's going to sell out wherever he goes so why does that matter? Ultimately, the city really doesn't matter - if he wins, then he'll be huge. New York is nice and all, but these days you can be big anywhere.

MSG is a joke in it's own city right now, much less the rest of the country. Pick up any New York newspaper this past spring & they're ripping the folks at the Garden for the ineptitude & lack of direction that both the Knicks & Rangers have. When the Garden goes dark by mid-April year after year, GannonFan is right, when people across the country hear the words "Madison Square Garden" the first think they're thinking is "that's where the Big East Tourney is".

BTW- that's a great tournament to goto, been there 3-4 times myself.
