Who are you talking about? Gilbert? I don't Cleveland fans have any problem with him right now, they know he did all he could to resign LeBron.T-Dog wrote:He's either going to remembered as a pussy or an asshole by the city. For a while, he's been a pussy getting fucked by the dick LeBron. Now he wants to be an asshole so at least if he's fucked, he can shit all over the dick.

Well actually you're being kind to Cleveland in that comparison.mrklean wrote:Well let me see

OK,

I agree, but none of them will want to play in Cleveland. The Cavs caught a huge break that a player like Lebron was from that area and didn't know any better.JoltinJoe wrote:Gilbert needed to draft that to get it off his chest, then he should have thrown it away.
Saying your star player quit on you in the playoffs is pretty strong and really unbecoming for an owner.
If Lebron wanted to truly become the next face of the NBA, he had two options: stay in Cleveland or sign with the Knicks. But it was his decision. Once it was made, there's no point in blasting the guy.
We need to keep perspective. He's a basketball player. If he didn't want Cleveland's money, there are a lot of very good players still out there.

OK,

He shouldn't have done the TV thing at all. He flat out lied when he said the free agency experience was humbling. If he was humble he would have just signed with the Heat. But instead, the King of hype has to call attention to himself first.tampajag wrote:I agree, but none of them will want to play in Cleveland. Uh, the Knicks aren't exactly the Yankees, Jolt.JoltinJoe wrote:Gilbert needed to draft that to get it off his chest, then he should have thrown it away.

I've never understood the love affiar with the Knicks. I keep hearing the Knicks are one of the premire teams in the history of the NBA. They play in New York, that is all they have going for them. They have two NBA titles, WAY BACK IN 1970 and 1973. They only have 4 conference titles 72, 73, 94, 99.Grizalltheway wrote:Uh, the Knicks aren't exactly the Yankees, Jolt.JoltinJoe wrote:Gilbert needed to draft that to get it off his chest, then he should have thrown it away.

But the Knicks play in the greatest city in the US, by far, and in one of the most famous arenas in the world. They are currently the 2d most valuable franchise in the NBA, although they often rank as No. 1.Grizalltheway wrote:Uh, the Knicks aren't exactly the Yankees, Jolt.JoltinJoe wrote:Gilbert needed to draft that to get it off his chest, then he should have thrown it away.

They might report a sell out, but there is about half of those people actually there.JoltinJoe wrote:But the Knicks play in the greatest city in the US, by far, and in one of the most famous arenas in the world. On top of that, New York City is a basketball crazed city. The Knicks play in front of a sell-out crowd of over 20,000 per night, and their TV ratings are so good that they are the cornerstone of their own sports network (MSG). While most NBA franchises play in arenas named after sleazy banks, the Knicks still play in the arena with the most hallowed name of them all -- Madison Square Garden.
And they do all this without putting a winner on the floor for years and years. What franchise in the NBA could still sell out every night putting out the product that the Knicks have?
Lebron could have brought success to the Knicks and become the new face of the NBA, but now he's never going to get to the level of Jordan or Magic. New York was ripe for the taking. In New York, they would have named a portion of Broadway after Lebon, but he decided to go to a second-rate city.
Some other guy is going to turn the Knicks around. He will probably never be as good as Lebron, but he will be more popular and will ultimately make more money.
Really? How often do you get to Madison Square Garden to see the Knicks?clenz wrote:They might report a sell out, but there is about half of those people actually there.JoltinJoe wrote:

Biggest rip by an owner on a player since George Steinbrenner called Hideki Irabu a "fat pussy toad."TigerStripe wrote:Hmmm...how did I know this was going to turn ugly?

All that was fine and true 10 or 20 years ago, but New York is no longer at the pinnacle of the basketball world like it was. Kids today really don't know anything about MSG other than maybe it's the place where the Big East tournament is played. I'll agree that they get good crowds, but Lebron's going to sell out wherever he goes so why does that matter? Ultimately, the city really doesn't matter - if he wins, then he'll be huge. New York is nice and all, but these days you can be big anywhere.JoltinJoe wrote:But the Knicks play in the greatest city in the US, by far, and in one of the most famous arenas in the world.
