Did not see this guy landing outside of VA, seems like JMU, UR, WM, Liberty and ODU all dropped the ball here...great on YSU.

To be honest, I dont think ODU was ever in contention to pick this guy up. I wasn't even aware of him leaving Tech until now. I think if ODU was a possibility, some ODU fans would have picked up on it.

Yeah, I found that kind of odd... Southern Alabama is a start up program that won't join the Sun Belt until 2013. Does he have to sit out since technically he didn't transfer "down" to FCS, or since Southern Alabama is in a limbo stage like ODU and GA St, can he play right away? I'm not familiar with all the transfer rules in this case.

I can only assume he'd be able to play this year, or if he can't, at least keep his two years of eligibility. I don't see any way he'd transfer there if he had to sit and only have one year left.

I can only assume he'd be able to play this year, or if he can't, at least keep his two years of eligibility. I don't see any way he'd transfer there if he had to sit and only have one year left.

The only other angle I could see is some sort of promise of a graduate coaching position or something along those lines. This guy might realize his pro prospects are slim and might be making a "big picture" career move.

The coaches we had talked to expected him to sign here, but he made a late visit to S. Alabama and they won them over. Oh well, you win some and lose some!

It's "South" Alabama and they're in a great situation to take just about any transfer...they're technically FCS right now so players are immediately eligible...they'll jump to FBS when they join the Sun Belt...other factors are they have a great campus and drew over 15,000 per game last year against Military schools and JCs...had 26,000 for their opener and 23,000 on a Thursday night for their last game.
