Just a couple of questions, J.

Can you name me just one society that doesn't (for lack of a better term) run off "greed". Oh and BTW, it's always the other guy who is the greedy one, not me.

If you have a better idea, please let us know, but is there a society in human history which has done more to lift the ordinary man out of grinding poverty than a free market capitalistic society?
On top of that, look around and research...the people in the world who have been the worst off over the past 100+ years are the societies who depart from that philosophy.

Mark my words, a nuclear warhead will be detonated in a large metropolitan area within the U.S. in the next 10 years. It isn't a matter of whether or not, but when and where. That will be the tipping point. :ugeek:
Dear lord... please allow this dangerous combination of hair spary, bat slobber, and D.O.T. four automatic transmission fluid to excite my mind, occupy my spirits, and enrage my body, provoking me to kick any man or woman in the back of the head regardless of what he or she has or has not done unto me. Agree to a point Baldy, but America has not practiced "free market capitalism" since the turn of the century. And, if you do your research you'll find those days and before to be especially horrible for a majority of us, just ask the slaves. Also, just because the poor cannot be seen, doesnt' mean FMC doesnt create masses of poor, it has, just not in our back yard and front porch till now. FMC nations, led by the United States have built their empires on the backs of the poor and exploited since day one - black slaves, white indentured servants, asian child labor across the globe, chinese railroad slaves, third world nations, poor middle east/oil rich nations, women, children during the industrial revolution........ It's only been in the last 50 or 60 years (were we have a hybrid government/economic system) that we've seen the rise of a middle class and an increase in the quality of life for more than just the wealthy.

FMC had many good qualities, but it also has limits. We're rapidly approaching the point where it's consuming itself and collapsing. As DD and I have mentioned, we're seeing this happen right before our eyes.

On top of all of this, the city's infrastructure is crumbling, the police force needs to be expanded, the water and sewage system needs some tweaking, and the city just doesn't have the money to do those things. Before long the city leaders will raise taxes, and out will come a lot of corporations and businesses that are based in Atlanta, and the state of Georgia will be in deep sh^t.

Atlanta could be on the road to being the next Detroit, it's problems are bigger than just the recession.
Where have I seen this....oh yeah, pretty much everywhere he in CA. :ohno:
Thank God we have two of the most competent people in the state running for governor this fall. :sarcasm:

So if we (in your opinion) haven't truly practiced FMC since the turn of the century, and it's the practice of FMC that creates masses of poor and exploited....how do we still have poor in this country? Our government has pumped over $100 billion and counting into a "war on poverty" and our poverty level remains virtually unchanged. Some people will always be poor. Period. No amount of money, hand wringing or guilt trips will change that.

Strikingly similar to the "war on drugs" and the "war on terror".

Shoot holes in what Z? Circular what? You've been owned here since your first stupid post. MOF, YOU gave me the greatest gift - ammo for your defeat with "someone will always be poor"

Using this, I exposed you as the greedy, heartless fuck who will kill a village of poor people in a heartbeat to save a dime. Your blind hatred of the poor is stunning and certainly doesn't reflect well on you as a human. :ohno:

Sorry you're upset that I exposed you, but it's the first step to recovery - admitting you have a problem.

Z, that's exactly where your chosen party ultimately wants to do with them - they are simply doing it slowly by putting them in prison, reducing their opportunities and lowering their quality of life.

The life expectancy of someone in poverty is much lower than yours.

Agree, but I'm concerned. I'm also willing to sacrifice in order to make things better. I also expect my elected leaders to share my concern and make efforts to ensure everyone has access to basic needs and opportunities.

Z - it's the cost of doing business.

The irrational exuberance and unpredictablility of cleets is more entertaining.

Appaholic's provocative shots across the bow are more entertaining. 8-)
You can kiss my ass you homophobic, homicidal mormon whackjob conk piece of shit. Ididn't even realize you were still posting here. Why don't you scurry on out of here and shoot some mexicans and niggers, and let Z and I continue our profound discussion on poverty.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

You and I are in the same category there, bud. :thumb:

Agree, but I'm concerned. I'm also willing to sacrifice in order to make things better. I also expect my elected leaders to share my concern and make efforts to ensure everyone has access to basic needs and opportunities.
Z - it's the cost of doing business.
And what has that mindset accomplished since 1967? The expensing of $100 BILLION on a declaration of a "war on poverty" has accomplished absolutely ZIP. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. After 50+ years of dumping money down a black hole, it's time to admit that the leaders "efforts" are misguided, at best, and enabling at worst.

Fair enough. So do we quit trying?

How the fuck can we get anything done with people like you and Native screaming bloody murder at the mere mention of anti-poverty initiative?

See Z, YOU are the problem. Why don't you understand this?
