I dont know why they installed endzone seating b4 the upgraded the visitors side. EWU had plans drawn up in '02 that would include:
New stadium entrance & ticket purchasing area : Complete
New lockerrooms : Complete
New Pressbox: Complete
More seating on the 'home' side on both sides of the pressbox: Incomplete
Endzone seating: Complete
Perm visitors side grand stand: incomplete
New turf: Complete
New Scoreboard: Still pending.
This was supposed to be the new woodward field, and the finished product would have been somewhere around 15k. Somewhere down the line, the visitors side, & additional home side per seating got skipped over. I dont know the reason why.
I think that maybe they figured if they did a few of these things and got interest generated then they could work on the seating that would produce more revenue going forward.
What do you think they should work on next though? I would think that making the entire stadium look better by working on the completion or upgrade of the visitor side is more important than the home side. The stadium would then have a more complete feel to it.
About every Eagle fan you talk to will say the same thing. We need a permanent visitors side grandstand. Bleachers are so goddamn busch-league.

Agree. I wanted to use language like "more complete" because I didn't want to sound like smack and was wondering what the EWU fans wanted to see happen. For the fans themselves if they were selfish I would see them wanting the home side done first but for the overall betterment of the thing the visitor side (FUCK THE STUPID ENDZONE BULLSHIT ALTOGETHER UNTIL IT'S NEEDED) is the next most necessary improvement.
#1. Install the video board b4 the 2010 season: might as well bc itll be the best thing for this coming season.
#2. Upgrade the visitor side to match the home side: This is the best way to give the stadium a complete 'feel'.
#3. Add more concessions stands, more tv, radio & internet ads. (there are all kids of billboards of wsu fb in Spokane)
it's to bad EWU's past President Jordan left for another position before all the planned upgrades were completed.
Yeah, I forgot about that. Definitely had to be a part of it. The economy and subsequent cutbacks across the state/nation certainly didn't help either.
Just took a look at the pictures on gooeags.com, and the new turf looks great! Looks like all they have to do is the logos, and that's pretty much it. Can't wait to watch some football on it.

Logos and the inside hash marks. And rubber infill. But it's lookin' damn good!

You guys ever seen that done? IIRC when Jacksonville State did their field they posted pics of the logo going in. They actually use different color grass and cut it into the field. It's pretty cool to see. I had always assumed they painted it on the field.

When App went to FieldTurf in 2003, all the different colored lines were stitched in. It was basically a big puzzle that needed to be pieced together.

I saw the pics CatMom posted of them putting in Texas State's this summer, so yeah. I was under the impression that the did it for all of the off colored turf (hash marks included), but it didn't look like that was what they were doing when I took a gander the other day.

Because my camera is presently out of commish. I borrowed my roommate's P&S last week and posted some pics. I've posted the webcam pic (the image url updates every 15 seconds or when you refresh the page) a couple times, but not the first one.
