Right, that system that determines a champion is that important. It's so unimportant that every other form of sports has one. It is so unimportant that every time a team you support is in a playoff you just sit back and don't give a shit. You don't even care if your teams make the playoffs.
Got it SuperDoormat.
I never said any of those things. You did.
I said I'm not hung up on a playoff system. It's great, and I'm glad we participate in one, but trading NOT participating in one (for a while) in exchange for playing better competition and continuing to better ourselves isn't the end of the world either.

Funny you should use a baseball analogy seeing how bowl games have as much excitement & drama as baseball....or the Oscars....or watching paint dry....
And about as many people care about baseball as FCS football or a lower-tier bowlgame. Good point.

it is always amazing that there are a lot of guys like you out there that define themselves by what other people's perception of them are. Good for you I guess.

Beautiful. I didn't click the next page when I quoted AZ but good to see that there are guys out there that don't give a fuck about some approval of what the masses think about you.

Probably true. But to get to a higher tier, you gotta go through the lower tier, no?
Who says you have to get to a higher tier? Or more true, who says you will even be allowed to? Let's leave Boise State out of the equation since they've actually played in two BCS games. Let's look at a charter member of a BCS conference. Stanford. This year, they wil probably finish 11-1 with their lone lose being to Oregon who is currently ranked #1 in the nation. What does that 11-1 record against the "big boys" in a BCS conference get Stanford? They'll be heading to the Alamo Bowl....the FOKKING Alamo Bowl....boy, that's much better than home playoff games...
Z, I'm with you as far as challenging the big boys, but I'm not willing to give up my enjoyment of playoff football where we at least have the opportunity for level competition. If FBS will adopt a playoff system, I'm right there with you. But big money will not allow it to happen...not in my lifetime. So forgive my selfishness for not being willing to walk away from the warm bed inside of my house so I can go camp out in the back yard of the mansion in a gated community.

Wrong.
Stanford will be going to the Rose Bowl.
And wouldn't you rather be in FBS when the playoff system starts? Or would you rather THEN switch and take another 20 years to get to where you're relevant?

Wrong.
Stanford will be going to the Rose Bowl.
Really? You sure about that? It's not like Stanford has a huge fanbase & if Oregon ends up in the NC game, there is a special BCS rule that states Rose Bowl must take a non-AQ school if they lose either the Pac-10 or Big-10 champion to the national title game....
There are two problems in the Pac-10: The special BCS rule that forces the Rose Bowl to take a non-AQ team should it lose the Pac-10 or Big Ten champion to the national title game. That means if Oregon wins out and plays for the national championship which -- what the hay! -- we decided to project, it's likely the No. 2 team in the Pac-10 won't go to the Granddaddy, no matter how highly its ranked.
So 11-1 Stanford could end up in the Alamo Bowl, unless another BCS bowl picked it (see the selection rules here) for an at-large berth. And the way BCS bowls select at-large teams isn't based on merit -- it's based on ticket sales and selling hotel rooms. So a No. 5 Stanford team might get passed over for a No. 9 Iowa team with two losses.

Well thats just because your being stupid.
And the fact that when you have a different opinion you usually play both offense and defense in the argument.
I like it if I can make an argument that others accept but if they don't I don't GAF.
I don't need to be accepted like you do AZ and I don't care if UM is seen as one of the Big Boys if the perception is only perception with no teeth to it.

I had mixed feelings, as well...but, the decision has been made. Time to move on and get back to supporting Griz football! Go Griz!
