Show me a quote where she said that. She in fact said the opposite yesterday.

No she didn't:

"Kristen Lee understands the perception. Given the reports, you might think she was a target of Yankees fans during the American League Championship Series and that might be the reason the Lees did not take all that New York money.

She explained back in October that there were some taunts and obscenities directed toward the Rangers family section in Yankee Stadium. There was some spit that rained down from above."

"Those incidents did happen," Kristen said yesterday after her husband Cliff was introduced as a Phillie for the second time. "But they weren't directed towards me. No one knew who I was. It was just fans being fans."

Since so many of you apparently don't speak or understand English, here are the words for "false" in various languages. Perhaps you speak one of the languages below.

French -- faux
Dutch -- vals
German -- falsch
Greek -- ψεύτικος
Italian -- falso
Portuguese -- falso
Spanish -- falso
Russian -- ложно
Trad. Chinese -- 錯誤
Chinese Simp -- 错误
Japanese -- 偽
Korean -- 틀린

Maybe that will clarify things for folks around here who don't understand plain English.

The writer said that.

And then he uses the quote: "These things happened" and, voila, he creates the story ...

You must be trying to yank my chain because I know you're too smart to have actually fallen for that.

That is the same logic that you are using for your denial - except you defintely are twisting things. Cliff Lee says that "no one came up to my wife and spit on her...", and you decide that means that nobody spit at all.

But the USA Today story didn't say that someone walked up to her. It said the Texas players' section was spit at.

And I heard Cliff Lee say, as clear as day, emphatically, and with obvious intent, that the story was "false." Period.

If you heard him say, there's was no doubt about what he intended.

The spitting story broke back in October. If it was completely false I think the Lee's would have said that there was no spitting, period. But they didn't day that, they said that no one came up to and spit on Kristen.

The writers statement fits in with the story and the context of what the Lee's had to say.

People just don't go around spitting at sections below in Yankee Stadium. I've been there many, many times. I know the atmosphere. Yankee Stadium is also the most over-staffed facility I've ever seen when it comes to security. Even if some fan spit on a section below, he'd be on his way out of the stadium before his spit hit the concrete.

I've seen fans tossed for using vulgar language, without any warning. People who go there often enough know that security there does not tolerate the slightest incivilities.

It is for this reason that I doubted the spitting story when it broke. I took s*** here when I said I doubted the story.

Now I have Cliff Lee telling everyone that I was right. The story was "false."

So suck it. I was right. Image

Nice try, but you are wrong.

If there was no spitting then Kristen Lee would have said so, instead of specifically saying that no one spit on here.

Also,

You must be a pretty lousy lawyer if you think a husband can testify about things his wife experienced.

If he was OJ would have been fould guilty.

Unless Joe could have gotten Cliff Lee to testify on OJ's behalf.

You're splitting some pretty fine hairs in order to keep a part of this story alive.

And you're the one twisting what Mrs. Lee said. What she said was that the quote attributed to her in the USA Today story was accurate, the story itself was not. And in that story, the only thing she said was that some fans stared at her and taunted her.

Here's the original story. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball ... gers_N.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here's the only quote from Mrs. Lee in the story:

"The fans did not do good things in my heart," Kristen says. "When people are staring at you, and saying horrible things, it's hard not to take it personal."

Moreover, at the press conference, Cliff Lee himself said that fans were staring and yelling -- saying nothing about spitting:

“No one came up to my wife and spit on her. Nobody poured anything on her. You go to any stadium and the opposing team stands up and starts cheering, especially in the postseason, fans are going to say something to them, they are going to do things like that. That’s part of it. That story was way overblown. It was false. It had zero to do with the whole thing.”

Cliff Lee said the story was false. if you saw the press conference, there was no denying he was disclaiming the story in full. End of discussion.

Except that Cliff wasn't there, his wife was. Cliff's statement carries as much weight as yours since you weren' t there either.

Until Kristen comes out and says that no one spit - at all - I'm going with her statement that no one spit on her. There is a huge difference between saying "no one spit on me" and "no one spit". If you think that is splitting hairs you really don't understand the english language, or logic.

Why didn't his wife correct him when he said that?

BTW, so many papers have now reported that the story was false that the only place it seems to still be taken credibly is here.

The story was that Kristen was at a Ranger - Yankee playoff game and that someone spit on her. If Cliff says the story is false, does that mean the whole story is false? There was no playoff game? Kristen wasn't there?

If nobody spit, why did Kristen make a point of explaining that no one came and spit of her? If nobody spit at all then Kristen would have said that instead of taking the time to explain that no one spit on her.

I apologize in advance for postng these articles in English, because you obviously don't speak English well. Please let me know what language you do understand, and I will be pleased to post translations for you.

OK, so Cliff Lee chose Philthadelphia over New York for less money and it wasn't because his wife wasn't spit on. Feel better? 8-)

Yes, I do.

Weeks ago, I simply observed that I doubted this story and everyone scoffed.

So it turns out I was right. Amazing that no one here can man up and say that I was right.

People here would rather to continue to argue than simply acknowledge that someone was right about something.

My firm has front row seats in the third tier. I know from experience that if anyone goes near the railing without belonging in the first row, security swoops down on you like stormtroopers.

Second, there is NO way that someone could spit from the first row of the third tier and land the loogie in the area of section 226 where the family of the opposing players sit. The third tier is recessed; it is not like the old stadium, where the third tier was built directly over the second tier. So there is no way to spit from the third tier into that area, even if you are seated directly above it.

Take a look here. Section 226 is down the leftfield line in the second tier. Family member seating is reserved at the very front of the section. In order for someone standing in the front row to hit the front of section 226, his spit has to carry 15 rows. The third tier's first row hangs over Row 16 of the second tier.
