Dupnik went far beyond your recollection and directly blamed Limbaugh. His unfounded accusations amount to a chilling personal partisan attack from a sworn law enforcement officer.

Is Limbaugh just as cantankerous as Olbermann? Yes. Is he as disingenuous as Olbermann? No. Are they both provocative? Sure. But neither Olbermann or Limbaugh are sworn public servants, let alone law enforcement officers. They are free to say what they desire and be judged in the marketplace of ideas.

A sheriff, on the other hand, has no business making these kinds of attacks. He needs to do his day job, period. Even if you agree Dupnik, which I do not, he is way out of line for his remarks. This case is similar to the remarks to the press from General McChrystal's staff, for which McChrystal was rightly fired, even if everything he and his staff said was God's truth.

These are Dupnik's words to Dianne Sawyer:

... “The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information... The vitriol affects the [unstable] personality that we are talking about,” he said. “You can say, ‘Oh no, it doesn’t,’ but my opinion is that it does.” ...

Agree...missed that quote to Sawyer. I have no problem with him commenting on the overall tone of our national discourse (but would rather he do his job & stfu). But, as a public official, I agree he crossed a line by directly assigning blame to a specific person...at least without assigning equal time to olberman, et al.

BTW, Limbaugh is just as disingenuous as Olberman (see his mocking "jive talk" when speaking about Obama on yesterday's show....have a little class you drug-addicted fat ass... :ohno: )
The thing is this 75 yr old Democrat Sheriff Dipstick has gone on just about every network out there trumpeting his theory of how right wing rhetoric led to the shooting. He proceeded to get into a back and forth pissing contest with Limbaugh, which has become a sideshow of this tragic situation. One of AZ's major paper's has called him out on it:
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepubli ... e1-11.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Earlier in the year Sheriff came out against AZ SB 1070, and then this media hound goes on Olbermann of all shows to call the legislators who enacted it racists.

VERY unprofessional of a Sheriff. He is no different than the rest of the libs out there trying to shamelessly exploit for political reasons this murder spree, taking away from keeping the focus on the victims and their murderer. :ohno:

Not at all. I'm sure that was not Limbaugh's intent when he booked the sheriff for the show.

Limbaugh would never try and exploit this situation, only a lib would.

Wrong  The "right wing media" is only trying to defend themselves AFTER they were baselessly attacked by the left wingers trying to shamelessly exploit for political reasons this tragedy by trying to link it to Palin, Limbaugh, Beck, talk radio, etc. After all, if the donks hadn't STARTED it, there would be nothing to respond do.

Sure, but the right wing media is also defensive because there's an unfortunate coincidence between their rhetoric and what happened. Unless you can provide a timeline for who fired the first salvo it's pointless in arguing otherwise. I'm sure there's just as many on the right playing politics as there is on the left. But you go ahead and stick with your story, it's a good one. :thumb:

As fas as military time I don't come close to yours but I don't have "0 years 0 months and 0 days of military service time". 6 years National Guard, 11Bravo. Good for you.

You asked, "Do you honestly believe that if you or I put out a website with targets on certain members of congress that we wouldn't be questioned at some point?" Get your facts straight- Palin's website DIDN'T have targets on certain members of Congress. It had crosshairs on a map of the congressional districts of certain members of congress. And no, I don't believe if you or I put out a website that had crosshairs on the maps of certain congressional districts of certain members of Congress we would be investigated. Celebrities shouldn't be above the laws that the rest of us have to follow, but they also shouldn't be targeted for selective prosecution by those trying to score political points.

Whats funny is someone with as much time as you have making again a moronic suggestion that Sarah Palin be investigated because of this shooting in AZ when with NO evidence of any connection between her and the shooting. You say your not a loony lefty, yet you're displaying the same behavior as those loony lefties that are trying to politicize this shooting by trying to blame Palin and conservative talk radio. I also do recall you calling for the investigation of a # of democrats who used maps with targets on them. Sounds like you're being a little hypocritical to me. Go back and read through the thread. You chose to respond to my post, but there are several others who pointed out your ridiculous suggestion of opening an investigation on Palin, and no one else agreeing with you.

Fox News' Roger Ailes Tells His Commentators to 'Shut Up, Tone It Down'Conservative Media Tycoon Pledges Peace, but Fiery Rhetoric Continues to Dominate Airwaves

It was merely a matter of hours after Saturday's shooting rampage in Arizona that finger-pointing and political vitriol took hold.

Conservatives, meanwhile, blasted the left for turning the tragic shooting into a political issue.

Now, the president of Fox News, Roger Ailes, has called for a cease-fire, vowing to tone down the political rhetoric, even though he dubbed his targeting by liberals "bullshit."

"We looked at the Internet, and the first thing we found in 2007, the Democrat party had a targeted map with targets on it for the Palin district. These maps have been used for years that I know of. I have two pictures of myself with a bull's-eye on my head. This is just bullshit," he said in an interview with Russell Simmons that was posted on the liberal entertainment mogul's website, globalgrind.com.

"Both sides are wrong, but they both do it," Ailes continued. "I told all of our guys, shut up, tone it down, make your argument intellectually. You don't have to do it with bombast. I hope the other side does that."

You are not the first military leftie, and that is your prerogative, cobblestone. But at least be honest and wear it like a man.

Why your fixation on Palin? Two separate Dem organizations, the DLC and the DCCC, published political maps using "bulls eye" symbols to "target" their Repub "enemies," long before Palin published her map. Big deal.

What is your beef with Beck. Can you articulate a coherent concern? Stephen Hawking couldn't pass a PT test either. What is your point? Do you have a point?

Yes, she was wrong. Nobody is perfect. If Giffords wanted to make an issue of political maps and rhetoric, she should also have mentioned the DLC and DCCC maps and rhetoric, and of Obama's promise to "bring guns."

Good for him. The left has quite the congregation of fucking retards that are trying to turn this into something outside of what it is...a tragedy perpetuated by a moron on whatever quest he is on to be this generations Charles Manson. I am damn sure if the roles were reversed and Palin had been shot then a ton of fucking retards on the right would have made the same leaps of logic.

It's good to see guys like TTBF and yourself (I think) and several others not having to resort to those kind of cheap shots. It's also good to see that the Fox News guy has a level enough head to ratchet it down in the face of the attacks from some lefties and just call it the "bullshit" that it is.

Yeah I'm a big time leftie. Between AD and NG time I served 21 years in the Army and retired as an E-7. Compare that to your 0 years 0 months and 0 days of military service time.

Thank You for proving my point that most of this country is star struck and feels that celebs are above the laws that the rest of us follow. Do you honestly believe that if you or I put out a website with targets on certain members of congress that we wouldn't be questioned at some point?

Beck? Please, total pussy. I'd love to give him the Army PT Test. I'd get a great laugh watching him fall down and start sucking wind as he fails the 2-mile run.

Have a great day BDK.

At least Hawking has a college degree.

Good for him. The left has quite the congregation of **** retards that are trying to turn this into something outside of what it is...a tragedy perpetuated by a moron on whatever quest he is on to be this generations Charles Manson. I am damn sure if the roles were reversed and Palin had been shot then a ton of **** retards on the right would have made the same leaps of logic.

It's good to see guys like TTBF and yourself (I think) and several others not having to resort to those kind of cheap shots. It's also good to see that the Fox News guy has a level enough head to ratchet it down in the face of the attacks from some lefties and just call it the "bullshit" that it is.
Asolutely. Both sides need to check themselves. This shit is quickly driving me to become a hardcore, radical, fringe element centrist.

You may be able to articulate a coherent thought founded in fact, but Cobblestone has yet to do so. 8-)

Think again. Kalm is a master of the satirical cheap shot:

Kalm is just as complicit in the "bullsh!t" problem articulated by Roger Ailes as most of the lefties* here . He is just more clever and articulate than some of the other zombies.

* To their credit, ttbf and death dealer have been voices of reason from the left and exceptions to the rule on this issue.

I'm walking a mile in conk shoes Nate. Right wing hate rhetoric has been stronger than ever and then a Democratic congresswoman gets taken out. I wouldn't feel responsible but I might lay low for awhile which is what Ailes is suggesting. It's called introspection. You should check it out sometime. :thumb:
