SDSU-USD Game Finally Set For 2012

With the admittance of USD into the MVFC the Big 3 great college football programs in the Dakotas are reunited. NDSU resumed competition with them this year and SDSU is now on tap to complete the round robin between these old rivals.

These three schools, NDSU, SDSU, USD, have all made their mark in the FCS and rightfully so will compete year in and year out for the de facto title of Best Football Team in the Dakotas.

The commisioner of the MVC didn't want to admit UND into the league until they resolved their nickname issue. NDSU had no say in that decision. UND SHOULD be in the MVC with the other dakota teams, but the fighting who decided to "go for the money" instead.

UND WAS the dominant team in the Dakotas before the NCC imploaded. Now they are a shell of what they once were.

I don't understand why you are so negatively obsessed with NDSU, the two teams haven't played in years. Feeling betrayed over NDSU/SDSU leaving the Great West? Perceived loyalty to UND now that they are conference mates?

As much as slostang want's to turn this into a NDSU/UND flame thread, I will not let him goad me into posting UND smack. I will not attack UND for his twisted sense of amusement. I am not crusading against all things NDSU. I have nothing for but respect for NDSU and SDSU and I am glad to see we are still scheduling SDSU and hope to see NDSU on our schedule in the near future. Both schools were great conference partners and are exceptional programs who I pull for. If you notice I only post things like the above in response to the two IDIOTS NDSU posters that really give your program a black eye. I only post in a thread like this to get under their skin and counter the garbage they spew and just about everything the post is garbage. I know I should ignore them and do more now than I use to, but I just get sick of the bs they continue to spew.

If NDSU ever comes out to SLO again I'll buy you a cold. Go Bison.

I have to agree with SloStang. When I read some of the comments by some NDSU fans, It makes me wonder what goes through their mind before they post it.

I think ndsu would be up for a home and home with CP. They are a very good program and a great a opponent. I always enjoyed watching them play.

They beat the Gophers. For the Golden Arm Committee that was enough. Maybe for you it isnt, but they are in. The Big 3 is set: NDSU, SDSU and USD.

UND doesnt qualify, especially if all you have to offer is their old D2 record when they were in the same conference, playing for the pride of the Dakotas and enjoying the boost NDSU gave them. You saw what happened when UND replaced NDSU with Sioux Falls University and you saw what happened when NDSU replaced UND with the Jayhawks.

SDSU and USD was inevitable. UND and NDSU is not. The location USD has is just too good. The location UND has is simply out on the fringe and not desirable. Lucky the BSC suckered in for the old Mock Move-Up gambit!

With the scheduling of SDSU and USD The Big 3 in the Dakotas is now complete. The battle for the Dakota Territory Football Championshiup is on.

Maybe some of the california folks could set something up on their own like a Ca/Dakota championship instead of butting in where they know nothing. The Big 3 in Dakota Territory College Athletics is an honored position and not just any school is welcome, especially some school that plays most of their games out west somewhere in a different time zone completely cut off from Dakota Tradition.

I just know that UND has had a tradition of beating NDSU and NDSU wants no part of that. Well at least JBB does not. I know there are plenty fans from both NDSU and UND that do. If it happens, great. If not no problem. Both are in great conferences now. I wish the best for all 4 of the Dakota schools. Each have been great partners in the Great West and all four are strong programs with great fans (minus a few fans from NDSU and we all know who they are) and all four have bright futures. Best of luck to all of my friends in the Dakota. Hope to see all of you in SLO in the future. Looking forward to partying with Jack and Coyotes fans in 2011.

There is a Dakota school in the big Sky but they are not in the Dakota Big 3.

Each Dakota University is separate and I don't want to be associated with the others except being from the same area. We are all rivals and also want to crush every Dakota school on our schecule every year. It's how college sports is. I didn't applaud SDSU for making the playoffs two years ago, likewise I wouldn't expect them to like that we had our playoff run this year. Rivals should act like rivals, not join forces to become a "Big 3". And as fever stated, Buck the Funnies! I can't wait to go down to Brookings next fall and bring our rock back to Fargo.

For all your looking down your high and mighty nose at me, you really are worse than me with all this. To not even recognize your rivals as a FCS team is worse than shouting insults at them any day. And then to go and put USD on the same level as SDSU is a backhanded insult to them. So you can get down off your high and mighty horse now, its a rivalry and should be enjoyed, not unrecognized while you pretend it doesn't exist anymore. What NDSU should do is what SDSU was doing, wait until UND gives them the deal they want, or wait until they get into a position like USD put themselves in where SDSU has to play them due to them being in the conference. Do I think that USD is on the same level as SDSU? NO. Of course I don't, its a heated in state rivalry, I will never say that USD is better, or NDSU for that matter.

It makes your situation more difficult, to be sure, but We are here to help you and will kick their (USD) ass every chance we get, just like we did this year.

We cant escape the fact that we are The Big 3 Dakota Schools, united in conference, united in spirit and dedicated to competition.

Right now the NDSU BISON are the champions and have the best college football team in the Dakota Territories.

I agree that that the "Dakota Big 3" is exciting for those schools.................

With the disolution of the DAC, the "Dakota Big 3" will fill a void in North and South Dakota for the parochial football fans..........

When you look at the big picture though, it is not to different than the state of Ohio, where you have all of these MAC and Horizon schools and then a Big 10 school above all of them..................the Dakotas will have all of these Summit & MVFC schools and then a Big Sky school above them.............ya know, something to strive for...........

I think the looming contest with NAIA Power house Sioux Fall University, now in transition to D2 @ UND is going to occupy the under card of the collegiate programs in the Dakota Territories. I doubt the Big Sky will even notice. They have no presence here in the Dakotas and are still grumbling about Fullerton letting UND in. Its not convenient or cheap for them either.

If UND/USD was the Jr Bowl, Sioux Falls/UND is the Super Jr. Bowl. Last time the game was played it sure gave all the college football fans in the Dakotas a big gaffaw with snickers and smirks all around. Nice footnote to the Big 3 Dakota Schools but clearly the undercard. I hear UND is considering $160,000 to buy that one out! Of course the other D2/NAIA games should be a big deal in Grand Forks as well.

You can't ignore who you are rivals with. As a life long Bison fan, the sioux are still our biggest rival even though we haven't played them since 2003. I think the long lay off has affected some people's perspective around here.

Sioux Falls University was a NAIA school that's now transitioning to the D2 level. UND lost to them two years ago in Grand Forks by 15
