Manning should fry. With Assange, if possible, in a big omelet of androgynous traitors.

I just love how the pro-military, pro globalist asshats on this board enjoy supporting a regime and the empire's efforts to shut up a true patriot who will expose the war crimes our "heroes" commit on innocents around the world. Enjoy supporting the world's police state. It won't last forever.

Hey, this guy dug his own hole in the ground that he'll be stuck in for the rest of his life. And in the grand scheme of things, he did it for very little - the world hasn't and won't be changed because of this. Poor schmuck.

Re: FREE BRADLEY MANNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course we haven't - but it's not like whistleblowing was created by wikileaks. We've always had whistleblowing and always will, and plenty of times they are very useful and very important that the whistleblowing happened. In this case, eh, how has the US missions in Iraq or Afghanistan, or anywhere else, changed because of these leaks? People knew before this that we aren't saints and no one is really shocked to have more proof of that. There'll always be saps like Manning who have delusions of grandeur that they really are making a difference by going out of the other avenues available to them, and some of them will be right. This guy, though, has committed himself to a lifetime of living in in a Supermax prison with an hour of daylight at the most and the only thing that changed because of his sacrifice is that US diplomats may think twice before using funny names to describe foreign collegues. Luckily for Manning, he probably won't have access to news and such that will just be a constant reminder, ever more so as the years go on, that his sacrifice just becomes forgotten.kalm wrote:So you think we've heard the last of wikileaks, anonymous, and other whistleblower media outlets?GannonFan wrote:Hey, this guy dug his own hole in the ground that he'll be stuck in for the rest of his life. If there were really any "smoking guns" it would be information at the "secret" and "top secret" levels. Not at the "restricted" level. Manning isn't a whistle-blower, and Assange is just a punk out for fame and riches (what happened to all the information you got on Bank of America, Assange? Sell it back to them for a cut of the bailout money?)

so the fact that he is a human being is of no importance? This is the same mindset that Washington's imperalist army takes on the minute they sign up and check their brains at the door at the recruiting station. Pathetic!

Ambassador to Mexico fired for telling the truth about Mexican incompetence and corruption.

Successful foreign policy depends largely on diplomats being able to report back to Washington in a frank and honest manner. This ambassador was not really saying anything that we don't already know about Mexico, but now our ability to get ground truth there (as with anywhere else) has been severely hampered.

If the Mexican government has a problem with the truth, then they should fix the problems instead of pretending they doesn't exist. The next Ambassador should be just as frank...no need to hide stuff, we aren't in 7th grade anymore.
Oh, and the Kenyan government is corrupt? Hey, there's news.
Of course, the best part is where we made the Libyan ambassador come back home because of his reports that Khadafi was a bit eccentric. We can bomb him, but we can't call him names.

I share your visceral reactions but agree with CID that there must be a place for discretion, secrets, and even machiavellian deceipt - NOT in domestic politics - but in foreign "diplomacy."
Your point about gadaffy is some funny shee-at though!
