Make it two.
Three.

He hit it big after I had to drop cable. I'll take Fox News' anchors (especially Megyn Kelly and Martha McCallum, though Shepherd Smith does get on my nerves a bit), but the political analysts (those few that I've seen anyway) I never really cared for (except maybe Sean Hannity, a little bit). Besides, they came on when I had more important shows to watch (like NCIS) on other networks.

I've met naive in person, he's smarter than Glenn Beck, but a little dumber looking.

Any similarities in their schedules must be coincidental.

Make it 3....and I'm kind or proud of the fact that, although I've wasted countless hours of my life on frivolous pursuits, Glenn Beck was never the cause of my wasted time... :coffee:

Could somebody post some examples of Glenn Beck being factually wrong with respect to his assertion that historical events occurred or historical statements were made?

I'm asking because I'm always seeing people say he's an idiot, etc.

Of course I'd expect people to be able to find factual errors even if he was generally correct. Everybody makes mistakes. But I'd just like to see. When it comes to Beck I see an awful lot of attacking the messenger but not much attacking the accuracy of the substance of what he says.

I do recall seeing a thread about something he said about a couple of academics who wrote on how to destroy the system in order to accomplish something. But, without remembering the details, my recollection is that he was actually pretty accurate in describing what they wrote.

it's less about his facts and more about his pointless accusations and conspiracy theories. He gets fact 1 and fact 2 but adds them up to get fact 5.

so.............

we aren't allowed to seek out entertainment?

Rush and Beck are about on the same level, entertainment value wise, as watching a Jim Carey, Adam Sandler, or John Candy film.

Mindless babble that is quite entertaining.

That's all it is.

What makes it even more entertaining is that they take themselves seriously, and so many from the right actually take them seriously.

Dumbasses.

Entertainment, nothing more, nothing less.

I don't think I pointed any fingers, but since you felt like you needed to jump in......

If it's mindless babble and they're dumbasses why would you waste your time watching it? Personally I'd prefer to solicit more objective sources for my news than skirting the lunatic fringe on the left or right. From the quotes I've heard from both of these guys I realized quickly that objectivity was the last thing I'd get from them, and I don't find extremists entertaining, but rather a bit unnerving.

That's the point

they are not news

they are entertainment

just yet another source of entertainment

and they are very funny

Jeez, Paul Harvey had relatively few advertisers, but they were very loyal, and he stayed on for years longer than Beck could ever dream of.

Beck's show has been unwatchable for months. I used to tune in every now and then when he actually talked about current events, but all his fox show has been for 6 months is obscure history bullshit that no one cares about. I'm not suprised it got cancelled.

Off the subject but I remember the "more trees in North America" thing.

The thing is that it's quite possible that there are more individual trees. Al Franken's book (I think) rebutted Limbaugh by citing estimates of acres of forest. But "acres of forsest" and "number trees" are not the same thing.

Nowadays an acre of forest can have more trees than it did when the "white man" first got here due to silviculture. Also I don't know if we'd even consider silviculture with neat rows of pine trees in it to be "forest." Another thing is that there are many areas...plains and even deserts...where trees weren't real common "naturally" that now have trees due to human development.

Anyway, looking at "acres of forest" and "number of trees" is looking at two different things.
