Anyone have a Nov. 5th opening?

Post by GA St. MBB Fan »

There seems to be a possibility that GA State's November 5th date against Lambuth may not happen. Anyone have an opening on Nov. 5th?

See: http://prideofthepanthers.blogspot.com/ ... field.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A poster on AGS says that TN Tech has an opening. Just curious if any other schools out there have an opening.

The University of Delaware does. Want to buy out West Chester? I doubt we'd want to give up that late-season bye though.

Probably not likely to go with a CAA team or a team in which they would have to buy out another opponent, since I'm assuming we'll have to buy out Lambuth. So probably looking for more of a home and home arrangement, with the team replacing Lambuth coming to Atlanta in 2011.

You're probably going to have to bite the bullet and take a one-and-done road game. It would be very fortunate to get a home game or a home-and-home this late in the game.

Gardner-Webb has an open date and was also looking at scheduling an earlier game with Lambuth since our HC is the son of their HC. I'd rather see your guys come to Boiling Springs for a good contest.

I'm pretty sure that gardner-webb has an open date on the 5th of nov. There has been rumour that g-dubb was also looking at lambuth on sept 24th with an open date on nov. 5th as g-dubb's new hc dickerson's father is the hc at lambuth. Would ga state be willing to play at g-dubb? G-dubb could flip their open date to sept 24th which would be great after successive games against ohio u and wake forest!

Yeah I don't know if GA State would be willing to play at G-W. I'm assuming GA State would want to replace a home game with a home game. Regardless, my opinion is that GA State should be proactive here and go ahead get the word out to potential opponents that could fit in the Nov. 5th date and maybe get some preliminary discussions going. Perhaps even go ahead and cancel the Lambuth game altogether just to avoid the problem - and get something else arranged.

GW would be a great opponent for Georgia State. When they played at ODU it was a great game...

would definitely be better than playing Lambuth.

I also mentioned over on Panthertalk, how about scheduling one of Lambuth's 2011 opponents? There will be 10 other schools in the same position. Of course the opponent would have to have an oppening on the same date...

I saw that...it would likely be a swap of one Gulf South Conference school for another, unless we can work out the thing with Gardner-Webb - as that is there only FCS opponent.

Georgia State running scared from Lambuth after they whooped y'all last year? Ouch.

in GSU's case, it sounds like Lambuth are the ones who are scared.

What is "Hall of Fame Day"? I ask because maybe it will indicate what time kickoff would be.

Hall of Fame day, I'm assuming is the same UNI runs.

It is when the class of 2011 HOF inductees for the school are honored. UNI does it at half time, but some schools may do it before the game with a bigger ceremony or something.

And just to confirm, whichever school takes it over will not be running the athletics department - so we officially have an opening on Nov. 5th now.
See: http://www.jacksonsun.com/article/20110 ... end-sports
While school officials are searching for a school to acquire the campus, athletics on Lambuth's campus would probably still not return.

"I haven't been told which schools the administration is talking to, but we've been told none of them are interested in continuing the athletic program if they were to come here," Brown said.

EWU does and I'd gladly trade away @ USD for a fifth home game this year.

I'm sure that kalm will have some sort of opening on that day. Usually in the rear, but he's flexible as far as which opening you prefer.

I'd love to see EWU come play in Atlanta. It's only an hour and a half drive for me. :thumb:

This would thrill the Missoula saloon keepers. Though, the Griz JV team would be disappointed about not getting to play 3 quarters of a football game.
