Fullerton took Game 1 of its rivalry with the Dirtbags, 4-1.

TXST takes game 1 from Nicholls. Unfortunately, the SFA/SELA game was suspended in a tie in the 10th inning, due to weather. That put our magic number (3) in limbo until they complete this game Saturday.
Worse case,(an SFA win) we would still have a 3 game lead with 5 to play....and the tie-breaker.

Our boys want this out-right.

Sam Houston lost (big time) tonight and pushes them 5 back with 5 to play. I can honestly say they are out and it's a 2 horse race.

Bobcats hold the tie-breaker over everyone except UCA  , NSU (playing them) and UTA (next week)

Nicholls took us to the woodshed last year (2/3) and is the main reason we did not get an at-large to the NCAA. It killed our RPI and looked terrible on the resume.

StonyBrook swept Binghamton this afternoon in a double header. Game 1 SBU 4 BU 1 , Game 2 SBU 8 BU 3. StonyBrook sits alone atop the America East with only a four game series at home against Albany next weekend. The Seawolves are 37-10 and 18-2 in America East play. Next weekends games will be the first played at our new
Joe Nathan Field.

Fullerton had a 9-0 lead that was washed away by an 11-0 Dirtbags rally, but then Fullerton scored 5 more runs to claim the series 14-12.

Fullerton swept the Dirtbags 6-1.

Meanwhile, Fullerton softball was left out of the Road to Oklahoma City by its overall record, which is below .500. Pacific and Long Beach State are going, though.

TXST is sucking against crappy UTA this weekend.
Can't buy a damned hit
lost game 1, yesterday, 6-5
Had our Ace start tonight and it's 2-2 in the 8th (late start due to rain delay). He threw over 120 pitches in 7 innings :ohno:
their relief pitcher has thrown 4 innings and has gotten 7 fly outs of the 12 outs. It's a bit pathetic.

This is not good for a regional at-large if we lose the SLC tournament.

StonyBrook completed a four game sweep of Albany today.
Game 1 SBU 13 UA 4
Game 2 SBU 4 UA 3
StonyBrook completes the regular season at 41-10 overall and 22-2 in America East play. The Seawolves will host the America East this week at Joe Nathan Field. This has been the best season ever for StonyBrook Baseball picking up 41 wins and dominating conference play.

The Major League Baseball Draft has been especially hard on the Cadets the last few seasons. Enjoy it while it lasts. Mostly Knobs this season.

Fullerton closes out its home schedule with a win over U. San Diego 6-4. A win gives us the autobid and a co-championship, two wins will give us the outright Big West title.

OK, so I lied. I was at the tournament and wiped out by the time I got home each night. It was in the high 90s Weds & Thurs and over 100 the last 2 days. Plus I was at 8 of the 15 games. Didn't get home till 11:30 Friday.

TXST lost their first game but came back with a vengeance, from the losers bracket, and took 5 straight to secure the auto bid for Regionals.

scores
L - Nicholls 6, TXST 0
W TXST 5, SELA 2
W TXST 13, SAM 2
W TXST 14, Nicholls 2
W TXST 10, Nicholls 7
W TXST 9, SFA 0

I didn't know who was going to pitch the championship game but here's a quote from the SLC website:
"Perhaps the most impressive part of the win was the pitching of Joseph Dvorsky, who made his first career start and allowed only four hits in getting the complete-game shutout. After only two appearances all of last season, the senior made 22 relief appearances out of the bullpen in 2011 and recorded six saves."

Also, our CF had the #1 play of the day on ESPN. Catch it if you get the Op.

We had 5 guys on the All Tournament team, plus the Tournament MVP.

All Tournament Team

C - Jarid Scarafiotti - SFA
1b - Ory Kalenkosy - TXST (also MVP)
2b - Tyler Sibley - TXST
3b - Bobby Buckner - TAMUCC (yes, Bill Buckner's son)
SS - Christian Gallegos - TXST (filling in for our regular SS due to injury)
OF - Bryson Myles - SFA
OF - Bret Atwood - TXST
OF - Luke Plucheck - SAM
P - Joseph Dvorsky - TXST
P - Todd Simko - TAMUCC
