Looking at the final score, this game looked pretty competitive if it wasn't for that first quarter....

Big bad Pac 12 Utah can only score 27 and not gain 300 yds vs fcs? They gonna get smoked at USC. Last 3 quarters was 10-10. Msu will be ok. Utah should worry.

+1 thought the same thing. If they are gonna get smoked by USC just wait until they play Oregon and/or Stanford if they're on the schedule.weberwildcat wrote:Big bad Pac 12 Utah can only score 27 and not gain 300 yds vs fcs? Re: MSU@UTAH Game thread...
First, mad props to MSU. They did a lot better than I thought they would. McGhee, even after a slow start and a few big mistakes, showed that he's still for real.
But I have to agree with the above. Utah hardly looked like a team ready to take the Pac-12 by storm. For most of the game, their QB just looked lost.

Re: MSU@UTAH Game thread...
I liked how our corners played and I know that MSU was making sure they didn't get beat deep. Wynn was coming off of off-season surgery, with a new offense and hardly got in any reps this fall definitely displayed that lack of playing time this game.
We shot ourselves in the foot bad and did about everything wrong we could to start out the game. Liked the effort and the ability to get things going in the 2nd half.
Will know a lot more where we stand next week when UC Davis comes to town. They torched us last time...
I think we got out of that game without any major injuries...I hope.

I know very little about UC Davis and MSU but I think MSU will be just fine against UC-Davis.
Re: MSU@UTAH Game thread...
UU's QB is not a PAC 12 caliber QB, but I think our D had something to do with it too. our young secondary played great, they had trouble running up the middle except in draws and misdirection (we can fix that) most of the passing game was swings and screens because their QB didnt have much more time and the long ball was pretty well covered.uofmman1122 wrote:First, mad props to MSU. gonna be a long season for the Utes, and the the Bobcat D will Return To Dominance

Convenient for Utah no Stanford or Oregon on their schedule. They could even lose to USC and still get to the Pac 12 title game due to USC ban. I got a tkt to ducks at Stanford yeeuh.

A very respectable game by the Cats. Take away the errors in the first quarter and it is a real game. The Cats are going to be tough. Congrats. Can't wait to see how the Griz look.

UC Dungpile has a coach (Bob Biggs) that recruits like he's still DII. Much like Utah isnt ready for the Pac-12, UCD is NOT ready for the BSC.ODUalum11 wrote:I know very little about UC Davis and MSU but I think MSU will be just fine against UC-Davis.
UCD will get rolled by MSU. MSU by 21 in that game.
If it looks like a cow, smells like a cow, and moo's like a cow, it's a UC Davis coed.

What the hell are you talking about? UC-Davis always plays tuff against Big Sky Opponents. Ask the Cats what happend when they played them the last time? Also.. Cats played well last night. Should be very interesting when November rolls around.Herky wrote:UC Dungpile has a coach (Bob Biggs) that recruits like he's still DII. Re: MSU@UTAH Game thread...
don't know much about UCD, but i assure you this: UCD's 45-0 win in bozeman 5(?) years ago will have ZERO bearing on next saturday's outcome. the cats aren't gonna beat the griz this year because travis lulay had a great game against them in 2005!! catch my drift?grizcountry420 wrote:What the hell are you talking about? sorry if i sound a little irritated. this is a common theme with bobcat fans, i.e "davis will be tough because they beat us up the last time they were in bozeman." WTF?! EVERY person playing in next saturday's game was in high school/middle school the last time UCD came to bozo!
Re: MSU@UTAH Game thread...
So it doesn't need to be repeated. 2006 recap. Beat Colorado followed by loses to Chadron State and UC Davis. Eventually make playoffs and beat Furman but lose the next week to ASU. Effect of the 2006 season on this year. None.

I don't think his point was that because they beat you last time, they're going to win this time.
His point was that this isn't a team MSU should take lightly, despite what Herky said. Nearly every time UCD plays a Big Sky team, it's a close game.

It’s easy for a team to get up for a BSC OOC game when your schedule has that BSC game sandwiched between USD, UND, and until recently SUU. It will be interesting to see how cal-davis does when they are playing tough BSC foes week in and week out.uofmman1122 wrote:I don't think his point was that because they beat you last time, they're going to win this time.

As far as MSU @ Utah, I caught the last 1.5 quarters and MSU was solid. Their defense did great and aside from the defense losing contain on a cutback running play, the defense controlled Utah in the second half. The offense was able to move the ball too so I think MSU will do just fine this year (barring injury to McGee).

yeah, i get that. i don't think MSU will take UCD lightly. i guess i'm more irritated with some bobcat fans who point to that one particular game as a reason why UCD will be tough.uofmman1122 wrote:I don't think his point was that because they beat you last time, they're going to win this time.

Re: MSU@UTAH Game thread...
I agree, what happened the last time we played them (Davis) will have ZERO impact on this game. None of the current players were even at MSU except for a couple of coaches McAndoo and Ioane.
Saw a lot I liked about last nights game. Offense started moving the ball and the defense looks like it is coming back to normal. However, a loss is a loss no matter how you look at it.

caught the tail end of the game last night and Montana State was playing really well. didnt catch the first half but its hard to believe they lost that game by 17 just based on watching the second half. Lets hope the Big Sky can knock off one Pac-12 team.

They are discussing a blocked punt on PTI today that happened in this game, and they had the Utah logo up in the corner display alongside a big grizzly bear logo.
