I dont think it will be very long at all. Hard to believe that OU and Texas are gonna go completely different ways. Texas to the ACC and Oklahoma to the Pac-12. We very likely will be seeing the end of one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports, "The Red River Rivalry". :ohno: This is a sad state in college athletics if you ask me.

Where did you hear this? I have not heard anything about Texas joining the ACC.

Even if they do, teams do play OOC games. Texas and Oklahoma can continue to play each other, yhey haven't always been in the same conference. It wasn't that long ago that Oklahoma was in the Big 8 and Texas was in the Southwestern Conference.

So presumably Texas Tech would join Texas in the ACC. Texas A&M to the SEC. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to the PAC 12.

The question is does the ACC move make the SEC, Big Ten and PAC 12 also move to 16 teams? IF so who are those teams? Its unlikely any current ACC teams leave for the SEC after unanimously upping the exit fee to $20 million yesterday.

Texas and the ACC have been having some informal talks in the past week to 10 days atleast. Its reported that the ACC has told Texas they would be willing to set up a 16 team league with four 4 team pods as opposed to 8 team divisions.

I know teams play OOC games but its been rumored as well that OU has some of the same feelings about Texas as does Texas A&M

USA Today reporting that the ACC has already voted and approved the addition of Syracuse and Pittsburgh. So the vote is done.

99.9% of all this conference alignment talk is BS, and if it isn't BS it takes months/years of speculation and organization before a move actually happens.

With that said, how in the hell did the ACC get Pitt and Syracuse in like 10 minutes?

Careful with rumors. So far the only thing we know is that Pitt and Syracuse are close to joining the ACC. You already have Texas in the ACC and Oklahoma in the Pac-12, I think you're getting way ahead of yourself there.

An anonymous Big East official told the USA Today word of the move first came about 3 weeks ago.

Have they signed all the paperwork yet? It may be done in principle, but until all the 'i's' are dotted and 't's' are crossed it's not done yet. Remember, Syracuse almost joined once before.

Very true, there could be a Baylor out there in the Big East who might pursue legal actions and keep the move from happening. I believed this happened when BC, Miami, and VATech left to join the ACC and delayed the move....

Va Tech was not originally invited to join the ACC. They were part of the Big East legal action, until the ACC invited them and then they flip flopped.

Sometimes you have to give the crying kid some candy. Someone does the same with Baylor and they'll hush too.

Nova's non-action is looking better and better. They'll be in the CAA for some time now. Nowhere else to go.

No surprise, most of knew by this morning that this would be a done deal. I guess this makes it official....
But USA Today reported early Sunday that the ACC presidents had already voted on Saturday morning to accept Syracuse and Pittsburgh to the league. Citing an anonymous source, the newspaper said the ACC was still considering adding two other East Coast teams and that Connecticut and Rutgers would be the candidates.

The ACC announced Sunday that its council of presidents unanimously voted to accept Pittsburgh and Syracuse, a move that increases its membership to 14 and sends the Big East scrambling -- again -- to replace two of its cornerstone programs.

And they might add another similar school in Connecticut. From the standpoint that I'm a UConn fan also I hope this happens. UConn is also competitive in every sport they field as well.

Rutgers would be another great school to add as well. Maybe not in regards to competition but the ACC will add another huge market and that will be the tri-state area. The ACC will now have markets in Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Miami. 4 of the biggest cities on the east coast.

Jay Bilas on sportscenter just now said that he wouldn't be surprised if the ACC now pursue's Notre Dame even though they don't fit geographically. Also saw something where if a current Big East member wants to leave the conference they have to pay $5 million and have to give a 27 months notice.

UConn next?

Agree, correct me if I'm wrong, the Big 10 has some very high academic standards as they should and so does Notre Dame so they fit perfectly, they fit geographically, and they are competitive in all sports such as both men's and women's basketball, women's soccer, football, etc. Plus their football schedule already includes numerous Big 10 schools in which they play on an annual basis if not a very frequent basis (michigan, michigan state, purdue, etc.)

Andy Katz said on the 6 pm edition of sportscenter that Pitt and 'Cuse are gonna try to get out of that 27 month notice/agreement for departure. Another question that is brought, what about the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden? Will the ACC pursue NYC as a possible destination for their conference basketball tournament?

The Atlantic Coast Conference is expanding again and has done so once more at the expense of the Big East, as Syracuse and Pittsburgh were formally accepted as new members on Sunday morning

Mixed feelings on this one as a Pitt fan. Football got way more exciting, as we trade WVU for Florida State, Miami, and VaTech. Basketball seems like a downgrade though. Lose WVU, Notre Dame, UConn, Nova, Georgetown, Marquette, Louisville, and Cincinnati for UNC and Duke? Hopefully the Terps and NC State and Wake and GaTech can turn their programs back around
