If Georgia State isn't the one team without a bye week in the CAA next season I'll be pretty upset. My understanding is that in the CAA with the schedule format there is always one team who doesn't recieve a week off.
Pretty sure it's up to your own AD where to schedule your OOC games. No reason you couldn't have scheduled the Camels that last weekend. Who are they to argue?

Yeah, I voted before reading too and put in 5+ as total wins. I would have gone 3-4 in conference. ODU is going to be a LOT more competitive in the CAA than most are thinking.
Well, some people had it right. 8-)

93Henfan, this thread wasn't one of your best performance...from betting real money ODU doesn't get 5 CAA wins...to hinting that Towson was gonna suck...to thinking URI was actually gonna be good.

Also who predicted that the CAA would be upside down this year. The preseason conference favorite is sitting at 8th in the standings.

#2: ODU will upset one of the top-tier CAA teams this season. UD, W&M, JMU, UR, or Nova are going to fall. UD is a far better team, but playing ODU early (while they're still fired up) will make the game closer than it should be. If I had to pick, I would lean towards upsetting JMU or W&M.

I'm feel pretty good about this, especially since JMU was the only team I expected to be top-tier and ODU beat them.

you are too funny. :tothehand: ANYWAY, ONCE AGAIN you take things out of context and what I meant is that if ODU had the chance to play UNH and Maine this year, ODU might have been sitting in a great position to win the conference ouright. Either way I'm ecstatic they'll be in the playoffs so you can stop calling me the worst ODU fan. Also if you'd like me to, I could prove to you I'm probably one of the more passionate ODU fans you'll meet and trip would be able to back all of it up....but then again, I thought I already did that. :?

ODU
This is alot of fun to read. If one had taken the time to really look at ODU last year, they might have seen this coming. The kicking game and the offense were already in a position to make some noise. Our recruiting was on par with some of the best in the CAA. The most important parts of any team, the OL and DL were big, strong, and athletic. The fans were loyal and extremely loud and the facility excellent. The coach was an experienced CAA coach. The W&M game was the precursor. We had the pieces.

Villlanova
Same thing. If you really scrutinized them, with so many players gone, you might have seen their fall.

But....TOWSON??????
Really??? How on Earth would anyone have seen this?
IMHO, it is Towson, not ODU that is the CAA surprise of the decade.

Yeah, I knew ODU had the playmakers on offense to be successful...I was saying before the season that while Crawford's injury certainly hurt the team in regards to depth, Goodwyn and Harper were the more talented runningbacks. Also very deep at the WR position with Gill, Evans, Mayers in addition to Vaughan. People were saying Pinkard was another player to watch this season. Add in addition to all of this an experienced offensive line who has played together and this is what you get...a team that has scored what, 40+ 5 times this season, 30+ twice?

Another great question however is would ODU maintained the same success with Demarco if he wasn't hurt? We'll never know for a fact.

You do know Towson was 7-4 and ranked #17 in 2006 right?
In '09 we were 2-9 and got blown out in almost every game. in '10 we were 1-10 but competitive in all but 2-3. Only the people who looked at wins and losses are the ones who expected the same from Towson this year. TU and ODU are almost identical, only TU did it's rebuilding within a CAA schedule.
