OGDEN — Jody Sears will be given a three-year contract to continue as the head coach of the Wildcats, the Standard-Examiner has learned.
Sears has also made his first hire, adding Montana offensive coordinator Timm Rosenbach, a former Washington State All-American quarterback, to his staff in the same position.
Sears was named the interim head coach to replace John L. Smith last April and will now be given the chance to build his own program.
Rosenbach and Sears were teammates at Washington State.
The school will make an official announcement on Wednesday.
Honestly I'm not too surprised. Every Griz assistant may not have a job after this year. In hindsight, it seems obvious Rosie had checked out towards the end of the season and may have just been phoning it in.
Delaney, (sp) will resign next week after the holiday.

As much as most Griz fans really want that, first off I don't think it'll happen, and if it did, how would that possibly be a good thing?
What with the unknown NCAA situation, I doubt we could find a decent coach to come in with that hanging over his head.
This was really unexpected, though. A reboot of Griz football may actually be a good thing, after all.
Pretty sure I didn't say it would be a good thing or a bad thing....just a prediction...

I'd be shocked if Delaney quit. I don't think he sees himself as a temp caretaker; I think he's planning on keeping it as long as he can. Remember he retired when it seemed his career had peaked as an assistant, but then a head coaching job totally fell in his lap. I don't think he wants to throw away that opportunity (this is all supposition, of course—I don't know Delaney personally).
I don't see a reboot happening, either. I'd bet money that the next HC after Delaney will be Gragg.

Ahh, my bad. I guess I'm a little trigger happy after perusing eGriz all day where that's just about all people seem to think.
That said, I'd be super surprised if Delaney hung it up.
As far as what Rosie said, that's perfectly understandable. I'd imagine most of the staff members feel the same way. Whether more will leave or not, I have no idea. I definitely think losing Pflu was the real death blow to this season more than anything else.

Having to hire a new head coach in April is never a good thing. Now Delaney will get a full offseason & we'll see what he can do with it.

Hopefully he'll have an OC that gives a shit about what he's doing this time.

I think Delaney will be gone after next year once everything at the UM is figured out.
As for Gragg being the head coach. I would personally approve, but I doubt he gets it. Not enough coaching experience yet to be seriously considered IMO. Although, UM has been making some very strange choices as of late...

Gragg is already the assistant head coach, so I'm pretty sure he would be seriously considered.
