Dear Blue Hen Supporter:

You are a valued member of the University of Delaware Athletics family, and I thank you for your continued support.

I am writing to you to let you know that the University has made a change in the direction of our storied football program. This afternoon, we relieved Head Coach K.C. Keeler of his duties and we have initiated a national search for his successor.

We appreciate the efforts and accomplishments of Coach Keeler in leading the Blue Hen football program, and the 86 wins and the 2003 National Championship will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of Blue Hen faithful.

However, at this important time in UD Athletics, after thorough evaluation, I believe a change of direction is needed in Delaware football. We must reinvigorate our program and reenergize you, our supporters, as we lay the foundation for future success.

On behalf of the Department of Athletics and the University, I want to thank Coach Keeler for his work with our student-athletes over the years and we wish him and his family all the best.

As all of you know, the University of Delaware is a special place with a great football tradition and is widely recognized as a model of success at the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) level. We have much to offer and I am confident that the interest in our coaching position will not only be great, but that we will ultimately find a tremendous football coach who will be an outstanding fit with our institution and with our state.

I look forward to communicating with you again when we can announce our new coach and start another chapter in the history of Delaware football.

The interviewees and eventual hire should give us a clear indication. If they're all former FBS guys then you'll have your answer.

I'd be quite content to just be competitive in the CAA once again without having to pray for a disgruntled FBS QB transfer every other year.
