I'm so glad to hear that Dane... Congrats! I can't wait until the day the SBU-UA rivalry is resumed. Having this new stadium is a step in that direction.

Starting to look more like a stadium in Albany now. First part of the tower steel is up and the lower level of the home side looks complete but for the actual seating sections.

The tower is very tall. Some of the trucks on the ground give it persepctive but at the highest point, it will end up being over 100ft above the field level.

Tower is coming along nicely at Bob Ford Field in Albany.

Field is also graded and basically ready for field turf which I don't think they'll put down until the spring, but I'm not 100% sure.

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Jan. 17, 2013 – Daktronics (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., announced today that the University at Albany (UAlbany), State University of New York, has asked the company to design, manufacture and install an integrated LED display system for the Great Danes home football games at their new multi-sport stadium.

The installation includes Daktronics first outdoor 15 millimeter pixel layout to feature Surface Mount Device (SMD) technology, where all 3-in-1 LED pixels are fixed to the surface of the printed circuit board. This main video display sits just behind the end zone and measures more than 21.5 feet tall by more than 38 feet wide.

“We are proud to partner with Daktronics, the industry leader, with an investment in the latest video scoreboard technology,” said Rick Coe, Deputy Director of Athletics for UAlbany. “This is an exciting time for UAlbany Athletics as we complete construction on our new stadium. We are looking forward to its opening this fall and providing our fans and the Capital Region community the highest quality game-day experience and environment possible.”

The main video display will incorporate excellent image clarity and contrast, multiple levels of protection from the elements and a new innovative cabinet design. It is capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. It can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements with outstanding brightness and wide-angle visibility.

The installation includes two LED message displays measuring 6 feet tall by nearly 11 feet wide and featuring 26 millimeter pixel layouts. These displays are located on each side of the scoreboard below the video display. They will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information.

A Sportsound® 2000HD audio system, which will be integrated with the video and scoring system, will also be added to the stadium. The system provides full-range sound reproduction and delivers clear and intelligible speech. The 2000HD provides a powerful audio experience for the fans. Daktronics audio offers high quality audio systems that can integrate with dynamic displays in indoor and outdoor sport venues.

Daktronics Creative Services was also included in the project to provide custom content in the form of video, graphics, animations and layouts for all displays at the new venue.

That will be one nice stadium when it is done. Nothing gives a program momentum like a new facility!

Looks like the Albany @ Old Dominion game in 2013 is a done deal. Not sure of the date yet though.

Shit, we have more snow on the ground here and we've only gotten a couple inches all winter. Great that it looks like a mild winter and the construction can move ahead full steam. :thumb:

They've really only had a couple days that they couldn't work and that was due to temps below 10.

Knock on wood, but snow has not been a factor as of yet.

It did snow in May in Albany when I was in school, so I wouldn't count it out yet......

Stadium coming along nicely danefan... will it be ready for the first home game? We have a family friend's son who just transferred in to Albany. I am going to try to catch a home UAlbany game this year. Love to see it in the new stadium.

Definitely ready for the first home game. Sept 14th against URI. We're on the road the first two weeks to leave some cushion for construction/inspection delays.

I'd suggest getting your tickets early unless you're getting player tickets. Single game seats go on sale August 1st. This stadium is 40 years in the making (literally) and I'd be absolutely shocked if it's not sold out and standing room only.

It just dawned on me after seeing the structure being built behind the stands that it looks like you guys didn't build enough seats along the sidelines. Looks like it should have gone much higher, or at least have the capability of going much higher. No?

Hey danedan, on another note, are you coming to Norfolk for the game against Old Dominion?
