http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id ... roup/home/Shamen Washington and Jose Mohler, two high-profile players for the North Dakota State football team, were each arrested for driving under the influence about a half hour apart early Sunday morning.
Washington was charged at 1:27 a.m. on the 200 block of 25th Avenue South in Fargo, according to Fargo police. Less than two miles away, Mohler was pulled over at 2:04 a.m. on the 900 block of Second Avenue North.
Mohler pleaded guilty to DUI and minor in possession in Fargo Municipal Court on Monday, according to city prosecutor Scott Diamond. He was fined $500 and had a 30-day jail sentence suspended.
Washington had yet to appear in court. He was also charged with driving without liability insurance. Both Mohler and Washington were booked into Cass County Jail and posted $500 bail.
“I can tell you, the initial calls I got were extremely disappointing and disturbing,” said NDSU head coach Craig Bohl, who was out of town on Monday. “Why two young men made such poor choices … when I get back, I’m going to gather as much information and make appropriate action.”

Sucks for them - bad choices.

Sounds like Washington was headed back from The Hub if he was on 25th Ave S...been there, fun place.

Why did this go public? A DUI..... wow! I dont have respect for police who run around and fvck with the players. Alot of times the police have printed out copies of the roster so they KNOW who u are. So to arrest the guys AND let the media run around blabbing about it is sooo stupid. That bad press fvcks up recruits and alot of other shit. I would *never* want to goto school in that hickville place.

Well I will take the high road, unlike a lot of NDSU posters, and wish them all the luck and hope that this is an isolated incident. They usually come in bunches...so....

So you have no problem with drunk driving? It's the police who are in the wrong here?BlackFalkin wrote:Why did this go public? A DUI..... wow! I'm not sure where you live, but in most places DUI arrests are listed in the paper.

Police reports are public record... anyone can request the police log for a certain day to see who was arrested and then request police reports. Reporters and people look into these things all the time to see who was arrested. Here at UGA they post all of the undergrads who were arrested in the newspaper every week including their crime and quotes if possible. For really stupid people or football players, they sometimes post the police report. I've personally never heard of police carrying around a list of the names of football players... I recall a UGA player getting arrested last year and the police not knowing he was a football player. Cops are sticklers in college towns no matter where you are. I'm sure if you look at the percentage of students arrested vs the percentage of football players arrested, it's probably in the same ball park. Football players and athletes just get more press because their not supposed to fuck up as they tend to be the face of the university.
Re: Two NDSU football players arrested
Look into the arrests at the University of Iowa the last 18 months....I think they are up to 30, including 2 by the coaches son.

The police don't target anyone, these two players were just dumb enough to get behind the wheel and get caught. These two guys deserve the media backlash and so does NDSU, we let the program get out of a control about a decade ago and that won't happen again.BlackFalkin wrote:Why did this go public? Let these men have a little fun and stop hurting your local/favorite fb teams. If the city really cared they would comp some taxi cabs for students. just boost tuition 5 bucks. everybody lives within 5 blocks anyway.
btw this guy is smart enough to squit so u cant recognize him.
ya know.. u bastards kill me, you will suck another mans dick if he can score a touchdown, then throw him under the bus for doin the same shit you have done ? Miss me with the hypocrisy.

Re: Two NDSU football players arrested
For three bucks you can get a cab ride anywhere in the city if you are an NDSU student, doesn't matter if it is three blocks or 10 miles. I have never done this, I can afford a three dollar cab ride so there is no reason to drive drunk.BlackFalkin wrote:Let these men have a little fun and stop hurting your local/favorite fb teams. You kill me, these guys broke the law. I hope you never have to deal with losing a friend or a relative to a drunk driver. There is a reason why these laws are in place. I'll let things like minors slide, but a DUI is a completely different thing. Your mistake can go way beyond just affecting you once you get behind the wheel of a car.

Never been busted for my drinking habits, never drink and drive either... Only a fucking idiot would defend somebody who willfully chose to drive drunk. Schools do have these programs set up. JMU has safe rides which is a free service run by students to get people home safe. UGA has similar programs and a taxi cost $5 at night no matter where you are driving to. If you can drink like a champ and make it rain all night, then you can probably afford the $5 to get home.
When students are passing out at stop signs because they're hammered and when people are getting killed by drunk drivers, I have no sympathy no matter who you are. I don't care if you've scored a million touchdowns or cured cancer... it's the law and you don't deserve to be treated any differently.

You betray your own behavior by describing opposition to drunk driving as hypocrisy. If I ever see you getting into a car to drive drunk, I'll do what I always do. You can get out and I'll help you get a cab or ride, or you can watch me dial 911 as you leave.BlackFalkin wrote:Let these men have a little fun and stop hurting your local/favorite fb teams. I can understand wanting 0 drunk drivers and an ACCEPTING an 0-11 football team. But you simps want it both ways ,no homo, you want no drunk driving AND a national championship too.
You fvcks are living in a fairy tale. You are fvckin up the program and making the players and coachs' life miserable. kick back, blaze a sac and catch a big mack attack.

Making no sense at all, BF.
So you want students, just because they are football players, to be able to break any law they want? Not be held accountable?
No wonder EWU is in deep shit with that lack of control from your coaches.

UNI has a free service for students that run them around town. All the bars in town are on one block on College Street or on a 2 block stretch on Main St. UNI has a free shuttle, and most of the apartment complex's in town have some form a shuttle. Hell, I'm willing to bet all students have cell phones, or access to cell phones to call a sober friend. I can't even count how many times I have driven people to and from a bar between 9PM an 3AM

With that said look at the University of Iowa football teams police blotter the last year and half or two. Look at UNI's police blotter. There is stuff there, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. No school is without these kinds of things.BlackFalkin wrote:And UNI consistantly reached the playoffs, the Bison cant even win there conference. Wonder why? its bc little shit like this. Re: Two NDSU football players arrested
Clenz, as a fan of UNI, Im sure you want the program to succeed. Having said that, how would you feel if the star QB, RB & 3 starting WRs got suspended for the entire season? Leaving your beloved panthers in Dicksville USA.. aka dead last in the conference? Sending UNI into a 7 year downward sprial of horrible recruiting, performance and horrible attendance! Look at Idaho st. They won the Big Sky a couple years back... remember? of course you dont bc all u see now is a bunch of losers. But at that school theres a history of the fb team hating the bb team and vice versa. For a span of 3 weeks a couple years ago, there was shooting, & fighting non stop causing 8 fb players & 3 bb players to be kicked off the team or simply leaving. Even though the teams hated each other, it never got outta hand till people started snitching

$3 for a cab ride, if you are going to spend that much for one drink, you can afford that for one cab ride home.BlackFalkin wrote:And UNI consistantly reached the playoffs, the Bison cant even win there conference. Shit like this is exactly why NDSU didn't win the MVC last year despite having their most talented team in recent memory.

bf... is your real name MplsBison?
yeesh.
i'm not defending washington at all... dui is wrong (esp. in a city where ndsu student can travel in a cab for 2 bucks... i know we got it going when i was there)
however... the Fargo PD rides ndsu students hard... they also seem to have a real problem with DWB (driving while black) i lived there for 4 years... and got pulled over 3 times... every time when i was driving with a friend who is black. (we didn't go driving around a whole lot... so it's pretty damn surprising to me)
nothing came of being pulled over "warnings" each time... but only after getting the third degree from the cops about "what were doing" (which was in reality going to target or hornbachers)
