Shocked that SELA isn't top 5. I'd put them above us right now.

Can't speak to that, but looks like our 41-7 head-to-win road win over McNeese, plus domination of the SLC, isn't QUITE enough to vault us over the Cowboys. Gotta love the polls! :notworthy:

I'm also surprised to see MSU still ranked that high after their 3 quarter shut out.... then again, they did throw up nearly 200 yards in the 4th quarter to that hideous, fan-blood-curdling, prevent (the win) defense that everybody seems to play when holding onto a lead. I still don't quite get why teams move away from what works when the clock is ticking down and the opposition is mounting a come back against their magical "oh now we're going to close this out" defensive scheme. That said... it still worked.... just doesn't always work :ohno:

Meh. Wish we had more meaningful OOC games so we could judge better. Can't blame teams like CCU though, not their fault Furman and Elon decided to have down years. I can't understand ranking an Ivy team at all. Princeton will probably finish without a loss in the Ivy, yet have a loss OOC to a PL team. This happens many years.

Yes our Lions friend is pretty tolerant about it but it IS pretty ridiculous to not have Southeastern Louisiana rated highest among Southland teams at this point.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I'm tolerant because it doesn't really matter, and I find it amusing to be honest. Plus I think it's a good thing for McNeese and Sam to still be highly thought of nationally after we've beaten them both by a combined 47 points. Had they both plummeted, I'd be worried it would be a reflection on us as losing badly to an unworthy opponent. The selection committee will hopefully do their homework and place us accordingly. If not, we'll show up and play whomever, and do what we do. Doesn't matter who we play or where ... put the ball down and lets go.

I agree. I hope CCU starts playing stronger OOC games. This weekend, against Carolina, will be quite telling. Even if we lose, it'll show us where we stand.

And what defense should YOU run with a -fluke- lead in hostile bobcat stadium? Nickel? Dime maybe? If the offensive is down late they're going to take shots downfield that why one runs the prevent. It's basically to PREVENT the deep ball. That's it. :coffee:

Fluke lead? They absolutely spanked MSU up and down the field for 3 quarters. How 'bout you stop commenting on games you don't watch, eh?

Don't need to watch. I know this conference. Southern Utah will lose a rematch in Bozeman. I do want suu in these playoffs, but don't think for a moment that that would happen again. Don't kid yourself.
