Do you dispute my stated average goals per game? Or would you rather cherry pick two above average games?JMU DJ wrote:CAA Flagship wrote:

Clearly you have not seen the score of the Spain v Netherlands game... or the Brazil v Croatia match.

Re: US SOCCER
You realize that soccer is the most popular sport in the world, right? Not saying there isn't room for improvement but you are asking for drastic changes for popularity reasons when it already is tremendously popular. I understand that you are talking more about in the US but it's not seen to be a problem worldwide.
In reality, I think the first change they should do is to hand out yellows for diving after the match by review or have the 4th (or a 5th) official review in real time (or slightly after). This would cut out a lot of the crap that goes on as teams and players would be more worried about missing time. Won't stop everything but it would make it better.

I dispute you picking weak arguments for your disdain for soccer. Here are some pointers next time you want to get into one of these discussions as an American:CAA Flagship wrote:Do you dispute my stated average goals per game? Or would you rather cherry pick two above average games?JMU DJ wrote:

1. Why do you assholes wear scarves in 90 degree heat? This isn't England and we don't play soccer in the winter.
2. What the fuck is up with all the face painting? If I wanted to see a clown I'd call your mother.
3. Why don't you get some original chants? Every single song you Yankee bastards sing is ripped off from some European club... except for the great "I believe that we will win" and even that's not original to soccer. Fucking Outlaw asshats.
4. It's soccer, you're American. The wankers in England called it soccer originally and we stole that from them. Now those biscuit eating tossers call it "football" so the American über nationalist give the average fan a verbal drubbing anytime the syllable "soc" comes out of their mouth.
Hope those help you hone you hater skills.
BTW in the time I wrote this, Chile scored. So there's another goal for you. Seeing as you asked for more scoring.

Re: US SOCCER
Make that two goals. Sorry they scored that second one right when I submitted the previous post.

Re: US SOCCER
I'll see if I can find the tweet back but it was world wide tv ratings for sporting events
The WC dwarfed everything...I mean dwarfed. FA Cup was second, Champions League third, Super Bowl 4th and some tennis final 5th. Our far and away biggest event isn't half as watched as the top the soccer cups

Found it

I'd say soccer is doing just fine. Those outside America don't give a shit of Americans like soccer or not.
The problem with growing the game in America isn't the rules...it's ignorant jackass Murricans who want to leave that there soccer for them your-oh-pean pansy trash

Re: US SOCCER
That's three! Cahill just had a nice header for Australia.
That makes the world cup goal average at 3.5 goals per game with 55 minutes still left in this Chile Australia match.
Oh, and it's a soccer game not a football match you numpty buffalo wing eating dinglberries.

Re: US SOCCER

That's how Chile got their first goal. With how long the passes are and how large the pitch is there's no way a hockey style line would work

It's the Field not pitch you pretty much south Canadian, corn growing, pork eatin' new JOO.clenz wrote:

Also, it's a jersey or uniform. Not a kit.

Re: US SOCCER
I was reading an article earlier that was talking about how relaxed the Dutch seemed, from the managers to the players to all the support personnel. Apparently they didn't practice much when they arrived in Brazil and instead went out on casual outings. This team isn't supposed to be as talented as the 2010 version, but you definitely couldn't tell after today's bludgeoning of Spain.
Behind the US, the Oranje are definitely my favorites.

Re: US SOCCER
Group D just got really interesting. Suarez didn't start but is warming up (had knee surgery less than a month ago) and Costa Rica just scored 2 in the 2nd half to go up 2-1 with 27+ to go. They are supposed to be the forgotten team with Uruguay (the seeded team), England and Italy as the powers. Uruguay's goal on a PK (good call)
GO CONCACAF.

Now 3-1 in the 84th minute. Huge game for the Ticos.

Seems the World Cup is doing just fine drawing viewers

Comparing the audience to other events, Brazil-Croatia has outdrawn all NHL postseason games on NBC and NBCSN, all of the NBA playoff games except for the finals, all of this season’s NASCAR Sprint Cup races and several MLB games on ESPN and Fox Sports 1.

Great. It's Soccer's Super Bowl and it only happens every four years.clenz wrote:Seems the World Cup is doing just fine drawing viewers

Switzerland provides us with the best ending to a game so far.

They got robbed earlier in the game by the refs so glad to see that the Swiss scored to win the game.

Alright Honduras. Let's keep CONCACAF's unbeaten record alive and at least eek out a draw against the frogs.

Re: US SOCCER
I heard on the radio that the game is in question due to torrential rains and mudslides. Could the USA actually get a win from a forfeit due to the other team not being able to show up to the stadium?93henfan wrote:Is the US still alive?
