Report: A-Rod may have used steroids since high school
Relaying details from an upcoming book on Alex Rodriguez by Sports Illustrated's Selena Roberts, the New York Daily News reports today that Rodriguez may have started taking steroids as early as high school and is suspected of continuing his use of performance-enhancing drugs with the New York Yankees.
A front-page headline reads, "A-Rod book bombshell" with text below adding, "Slugger may have taken HGH while playing for the Yankees" and, "Hints he took steroids as early as high school days."
The report indicates that a high school teammate of Rodriguez's told Roberts that A-Rod took steroids before being drafted as a No. 1 pick and that his high school coach knew it -- an allegation the coach, Rich Hoffman, denied.
The book also indicates that two anonymous Yankees said they believed Rodriguez was using banned substances based on visual side effects, which reportedly led to Rodriguez gaining an unflattering nickname that referenced an increased pectoral size comparable to a woman's chest. The report also notes that a clubhouse staffer suggested management had a suspicion that the third baseman may have been juicing.

not overly surprised. When I was in high school I could not believe the amount of kids who actually took steroids. I wrestled for only one season, needed something to do until rugby in the spring, and I would say about 80% of the team was on steroids and I know a lot of them also played football and/or baseball.

If this surprises anyone, then that person is an idiot.
It's not a personal attack if it's true.

And he was tipping pitches to his friends for the same in return.... How can anyone on his team even talk to him now.

• A-Rod "pitch tipped" when he played for the Rangers by letting opponents at the plate know which pitch was coming in lopsided games. A-Rod expected players he helped would reciprocate when he was having an off night and needed to get his batting average up.dbackjon wrote:dgreco wrote:And he was tipping pitches to his friends for the same in return.... This book is filled with alot of maybe's and inuendo. The author never comes out and says he did anything. She's just trying to make a few bucks.
Re: Report: A-Rod may have used steroids since high school
You fellers do realize that the lady making these accusations in her book has no ties to A-Rod whatsoever. She has never met him, nor does he know her. I will not believe a word this bat says.

You do know that A-Rod is fucking weird enough that people don't have to make shit up about him, rightWillie wrote:You fellers do realize that the lady making these accusations in her book has no ties to A-Rod whatsoever. Re: Report: A-Rod may have used steroids since high school
here's what i dont get... a-rod has been, up to this point... the a gigantic target for every hacked-off, self-righteous sports reporter and asshole fan who is angry that Tom Hicks was stupid enough to pay the guy the richest contract in sports history. but what exactly has he done to deserve it?
lemme ask everyone of you... if you were 25 years old and someone offered you a job in your field, doing exactly what you do now, for 10 years, and 252 million bucks... wouldja take it???
the guy gets TRADED to the soulsucking evil empire franchise... where he performs well, struggles in the playoffs and is assailed and attacked by a collection of people who seem to wank off on the idea of ruining someone elses life...
then it comes out that under what is frankly understandable pressure to live up to the richest contract in sports history... he gives in to using PED's... which were rampant in the game at the time, especially in Texas. then becomes the ONLY guy active in the game to man up and say... "yep... i did it, it was a mistake, i was wrong and i'm sorry" and is mocked an ridiculed some more... sorry, but IMO the guy is the only decent man involved in the whole PED scandal to this point...
he admitted it, openly, and apologized... but that isn't enough for asshole self-righteous sports writers who all want to congratulate themselves on how ethical they all are and look down their nose at one of the biggest players in the game... it's pathetic...
i know it's exacerbated by Sawks fans and their constant bullshit (and yes... i know... the taunting goes both ways and he's just one target of many) but that's no excuse for people constantly singling this one guy out for all of this bullshit... i just don't get it.

Who remembers back on AGS some years ago, back when Arod was still viewed as pure, and someone questioned whether Arod may be juicing ... and I said if he's juicing, he's been juicing since high school.
Anyone? Remember?
