You must have been high..TribePride wrote:LeadBolt, Hope your right, but I think you are crazy. Of course, I was there when we beat UVA in 2009, but I was also there when we trailed 41-3 at half at Tech in 2007. We came close the last two years, but the offense didn't score in the 2nd half. It is all on the QB and the offense this year. Let's hope that either Cluley is better than everyone expects, or the Tribe is playing mindgames and waiting to turn Brumbaugh loose. Also, whenever you hope to win in Blacksburg you have to handle kickoffs and punts well. The last few years, the kicking game has been a weakness.
Tech has been down the last 2 years, though.
I pick all the Home teams to win in Week 1 except I like NH over Toledo and JMU over Maryland.

Is Pitt that good, or is Delaware just that bad?

Re: CAA Week #1 Predictions
JMU's worse loss since a 47-0 loss @ VT in Mickey's 1st game in 99'. Couse that VT team had #1 draft pick Michael Vick, went 11-0, and played FSU in the National Title game. Was a far superior team to what MD has..
Most point that JMU has given up since 1979..

Re: CAA Week #1 Predictions
Obviously the most impressive performance of the weekend was VU's 2 OT loss @ Syracuse, a game they absolutely should have won.
IMHO biggest disappointments in order:
1. TU
2. UD
3. JMU
4. UNH
5. SBU
Close one between TU and UD. Don't know what the spread was for UD @ Pitt, but I assume it was somewhere in the 3+ TD range. UD was preseason picked 7th of 12 in the CAA. TU went to the NC game last yr, was pre season #5 pick in the CAA, and suffered what was probably the biggest upset not only in the CAA, but maybe all of I-AA this past weekend.
Close one between JMU and UNH. UNH was a semi final team last season, had a lot returning, was the preseason pick to win the CAA, is in just about everyone's pre season top 5, and has a history of doing well in their I-A games. You would expect them to play one of the top MAC teams closer than they did. At least it was competitive for a 1/2, as Toledo led only 16-14 at the half, then blew the doors off in the 2nd half outscoring UNH 38-0.
JMU was only pre season picked 8th in the CAA, but with all the hype on Withers, Vad Lee, and all the transfers, most JMU fans didn't expect a win, but certainly a more prepared team and competitive game vs what is likely a mediocre at best Big 10 team. Game was never competitive. The spread was 22, and MD doubled that..
SBU, pre season picked 9th in the CAA, certainly was expected to beat Bryant at home, who each of the last 2 seasons has finished under .500 overall and .500 in the NEC..

Re: CAA Week #1 Predictions
TUs loss by far is the most disappointing game in CAA.

Re: CAA Week #1 Predictions
Hey BDK, you guys got smoked by shitty Maryland, so you're tied with Towson and Delaware. Maryland usually barely beats CAA teams, but they curb stomped you guys. Don't try to stratify horrible losses.

All 3 losses were very bad, but don't try to equivocate.93henfan wrote:Hey BDK, you guys got smoked by shitty Maryland, so you're tied with Towson and Delaware. Maryland usually barely beats CAA teams, but they curb stomped you guys. Don't try to stratify horrible losses.
Pitt and MD are comparable. 2013:
Maryland 7-6/3-5 in the ACC
Pitt 7-6/3-5 in the ACC
The spread in the UD game was 24. UD lost by 62, 38 points worse.
The spread in the JMU game was 22. JMU lost by 45, 23 points worse.
TU's loss was worse considering they were picked 5th in the CAA and were in the NC game last season.

If UD beats JMU, then JMU's FBS loss was worse.
And vice versa.

No, I think it would be the opposite.93henfan wrote:If UD beats JMU, then JMU's FBS loss was worse.

If UD beats JMU, then that would mean UD was better, making their loss to PItt worse.
If JMU beats UD, that would mean JMU was better, making their loss to UMD worse.

Pitt/UD, MD/JMU have nothing to do with anything that happens the rest of the year.BDKJMU wrote:Ok, now I'm confused..CAA Flagship wrote: But what if Syracuse beats Pitt but loses to Maryland, or vice versa?

Re: CAA Week #1 Predictions
I didn't know that Coker was suspended last week. That would partially account for SBU's putrid offensive output vs Bryant.
