Ebola in the USA: Are You Concerned?
Ebola in the USA: Are You Concerned?
So we now have our first US-diagnosed case of Ebola in Dallas.
Do you trust our awesome federal government, CDC, and healthcare system to prevent an outbreak?
I'm watching with interest. Chris Matthews went off on Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel (ObamaCare architect) yesterday on Hardball basically saying that Obama said two weeks ago that Ebola in the US was "unlikely" and now the "unlikely" has already occurred.

Maher had Anthony Zinni on last week and Zinni thinks it's a greater threat than terrorism.
Re: Ebola in the USA: Are You Concerned?
The thing about terrorism is, yeah it sucks, but when it's over its over for that particular event.kalm wrote:Maher had Anthony Zinni on last week and Zinni thinks it's a greater threat than terrorism.
If we ever have a pandemic, everyone has to approach each day differently. You also have to figure that markets will crash.

I'm not worried.
Re: Ebola in the USA: Are You Concerned?
I'm not worried yet. I'm just interested in seeing if it gets nipped in the bud. If this gets to a point where it is hopping from person to person in cities and airports, then all bets are off.Vidav wrote:I'm not worried.

I'm concerned, but confident it will be controlled. Did the person actually go to work, mingle with everyone, and get sent home because they felt sick.

People should be more concerned about the flu and the reemergence of diseases like measles and whopping cough (thanks to anti-vaccine paranoia) than Ebola.
Ebola isn't even the most threatening African disease. That is malaria IMO.

Yeah I just read that. That makes it a bit less worrisome.CID1990 wrote:I dont snuggle with sick people, so no.

Question though. How in hell did we get two US doctors infected with this? Did they not wear gloves and gear? Did they fuck the locals?

Me neither. However, it couldn't hurt to put a few more OT shifts on that new vaccine that saved our doctors.Vidav wrote:I'm not worried.

Nope. Only have to drive 120 miles for treatment is I manage to contract it from one of my imported West-African lovers.

Re: Ebola in the USA: Are You Concerned?
They were in Africa, surrounded by people with it, touching and handling symptomatic people. Plus, West African traditions involve a lot of touching and washing of corpses which is why it spreads here so easily. Ebola doesnt stand a chance in the US.93henfan wrote:Yeah I just read that. Two things...
Why are people from the pandemic nations being allowed to travel WITHOUT being required to complete a quarantine period?
What fuckhead***************** *********** **** ******* ************* **** ***** dung eater, living in a pandemic nation decides to fly halfway around the world to visit relatives DURING THE PANDEMIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That our nation is still allowing unquarantined travel from those nations is beyond insane.

Re: Ebola in the USA: Are You Concerned?
I hopped off the plane at DFW
With a dream and my bubba
Welcome to the land of Big D, am I gonna fit in?
Jumped in the cab here I am for the first time
Look to my right, and I see Jerry’s World
This is all so crazy, everybody seems so famous
My tummy's turning and I'm feeling kind of sick
Nausea sets in and my temps going up quick
That's when the taxi man turned on the radio
And a Health warning is on
And a Health Warning in on
And a Health Warning is on
So I start to throw up
I know something is wrong
The feeling won’t go away
Nodding my head like Yeah
Moving my lips like Yeah
I start to throw up
They're something wrong
I don’t know if I'm gonna be okay
Yeah, Eh-Eh, Eh-Eh-Eh
It's Ebola in the U.S.A.

Dback, where is your source that the first patient is improving?
Also, love the cultural commentary that "large social gatherings" are a Liberian community tradition.

This. With the caveat that our response in Africa had some constraint due to budget cuts.Vidav wrote:I'm not worried.

Because they don't have liquids of more than 12 ounces in their carry ons, and they look brown or black.
