‘Trump and friends’
Correct on the water:

Correct on the forest mismanagement.
Correct on the fire dept budget being cut for illegals.
Correct on the city leadership failing which even the DEI chief admits.
Solid source right there, VD.

The irony of RNC Research or any MAQA yahoo criticizing someone for "making it all about himself, as usual. Disgraceful" is rich indeed.

LA City Council 14 donks, 1 indy, 0 conks.
Don’t have a lot of sympathy for people who votes for Bass, Newscum, Kamala, and others of their ilk. You reap what you sow.

So if they’re elderly, infirm or immobile for some reason just too bad for them because DEI? If your fat ass can’t carry out a 180 lb adult then maybe you should find another line of work.

Still searching desperately for some form of win after your parroting of Trump’s dumb statements I see.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 11:26 amhttps://www.newsweek.com/controlled-bur ... es-2012492kalm wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 11:02 am
Start with forest management. What steps should they have taken to. The wildfire threat…in LA, and the Santa Monica mountains, with all those forests?
(Hint since you didn’t read the thread, the answer is in there.)
Defending dear leader and owning the libs - a higher priority than facts and truth.
(Not the most accurate reporting in your Newsweek piece)
This was covered to a degree in the original tweet thread I posted as well.
Controlled burns CAN be effective in certain instances and types of land with low population density and true forest ecosystems versus fast growing shrub-grasslands. They are used every fall during the wet season on our nearby Turnbull NWR.
There are many challenges and extenuating factors though.
Population density, funding resources, dangerous air quality conditions, wind speeds, terrain, containment …are all just some of the issues.
Draught, smaller, quick growing brush and grass in chaparral, and not just Santa Ana wins but hurricane force Santa Ana winds in this particular case added fuel to the…(pun intended).
But who wants to assign partial blame to Mother Nature and climate change? Godless, commie, hippies…that’s who. It’s far better to politicize it and score points than to find more effective solutions. Right?
Here’s another explanation of why prescribed burns wouldn’t have prevented these fires:
https://www.kqed.org/news/12021125/la-f ... californiaEven if the U.S. Forest Service had continued to allow burning, it would not have prevented this week’s devastation from deadly fires that have destroyed thousands of homes. The fires we’re seeing are primarily spreading through urban neighborhoods, with the possible exception of the Eaton Fire, which is burning, in part, on federal forest lands.
Given the wind, weather and location of the fires, it’s unlikely a controlled burn would have stopped the disaster. The houses and surrounding vegetation are fuels in communities that were not designed for fire resilience when they were planned decades ago.
“There’s vegetation all around homes and trees overlapping, and [residents] love the beauty and the look of that,” said Michael Gollner, a researcher and fire expert at UC Berkeley. “But when a fire comes through, it has a clear path to just keep propagating through the community.”
